CMP freezes on open.

When I open CMP, I get the opening window, I hear the ratchet sound, the FCT is activated and a window appears with the message, Checking Data Base. Then everything stops. If I click on the red X to close, I get the message, 'program is not responding'. I have signed out of my login and signed in again, no change.

Any suggestions.

Usually when CMP locks up there is a problem with the database, hence the reason why it doesn't move once that message appears about "rebuilding database" or "checking database".

What I usually do is go into where TRS06 or TC is installed, find and delete the file assets.tdx then go into the cache folder and delete assets.bku if its there.

Now, run TRS06 or TC, do not run CMP, let TRS06/TC rebuild the database, once its done CMP should now run fine again.

this is a constant problem for me now

EVERYtime I use CMP it hangs, unless I first delete the cache. If I want to download an object from the DLS and forget to clean the cache first it jams up. It makes downloading a major headache. There seems to be a communication problem between TRS2006 and the DLS that has not been repaired by Auran since it first started just before the staff reduction. I think it's at the American server. If I just want to use CMP, it also hangs unless I first clean out the cache, because CMP checks my ID against the server and locks up.

Believe me, I have tried everything to fix this including a complete reinstall, registry cleanup, and lighting incense! I have not renewed my FCT because of this.

I had this same issue and found it was the Windows Firewall that was causing me grief whenever CMP attempted to contact the DLS. Once I turned this off, CMP has appeared to work OK (so far ;) )

Cheers

This is NOT a safe way to work. I admit that windows firewall is not the best in the world, but there are settings to allow traffic from CMP in/out without disabling it.

EDIT: sorry if this sounds harsh, but I would not want to see a member of this community hurt by hasckers etc because I didn't warn them about security risks.

I deleted the suggested files. Now when the CMP freezes, the last thing showing on the screen is the box saying, 'checking user name a password'. I think it recognized this before stalling as it shows the time on my first class ticket. Windows task manager shows cpu time at 100%, and it's for CMP. I have tried turning off the firewall and anti-virus, but that didn't help. Of the many times I've tried, on one occasion the log in was complete and CMP was working. I've also signed out on the forum log-in and then signed in again, so I know that is correct.

Have you entered your username and password correctly in Trainz?

CMP usually gets your username and password from the Trainz options.
I re-entered my user name and password. Also I have tried all of the suggestions. Nothing has made it work other than the one single time. That's what seems strange.

Perhaps the next step is to re-install Trainz and the service pack.

CMP

I would hate to be the bearer of bad news but at first when content manager broke down a few days later the game it self completely packed up.

After all attempts failed, I un-installed Trainz, cleaned the registry, installed Trainz and SP1, initialized the data base and CMP is now working.
Thanks for the suggestions.
