just wondering what a chump file is and do I move it into content manager?
also what is the best way to repair faulty assets. they were fine until the reinstall.
the Gold membership allows the download with no further expense with the exception with the gold renwell?
thanks

what a chump file is
The "chump" file is the unexpanded config.txt file in it's raw format. Generally you should not see this, as it should be expanded to normal config.txt whenever you edit an asset, but if you run into it, there is a PEVSoft utility call ChumpXpander that will uncompress it.

so running into this i should not install like the other assets?
by the way thanks for the answer

You can try installing it and the worst it might do is throw an error. If it is a regular folder, and not a .tzarc file, I would say convert it to config.txt using ChumpXpander, then install it, but it might work the way it is. Trainz knows what a chump file is.

You shouldn't be opening up the content folders at all. This is why there are tools to manage content in Trainz. Moving or touching any of the contents such as these chump files will corrupt the assets.

running late with this question.
what do we do with these chump files ?
i have pretty much lost or don't have since moving t a larger drive. i have gone and retrieved files from JR and RRMODS. so far i have not gotten either. i have them both in back up files but still cannot get them back. what good are the backup files if they do nothing? just in locomotives i have a large stable not even to mention a huge amount of payware railcars. i have tried everything i know to get these back so i can finally go to sessions.
thanks

i don't know but i believe most of the chump files are have a lot of the payware. also finding a lot of built in(not accessible

late question.
i have not been able to get back hardly any payware locomotives. the big problem is built in parts such as "sand" "diesel" "green corona". i'm sure there is more. for railcars most of the loads for hopper are also built in (not accessible) why use these if you might need them and replace them.
as it stands i have all but lost the game do unattainable part to these locos and railcars for the sin of moving to a larger hard drive.
sorry about the rant but this has been going on for over a week. sort of wish i had bought a larger than 4 tb drive so i won't have to do this again.
thanks for the help

Edit and remove it or remove the spaces.

We cannot, and to repeat this again, we cannot, do anything with the CHUMP files. These are compressed content containing the config.txt file and everything else. The only way to use a .chump file is to import the associated folder using the File----> Import -----> Content Folder. The thing is, if these belong to built-in or DLC, these folders will not import because the content is encrypted.

Deleting the folders that hold these files will delete the content and effectively neuter your Trainz install requiring you to reinstall everything.

I hate having to hunt down all the packages and routes again when moving to a different Trainz install. Why don't they import correctly by cdp? I have a lot of routes with packaged assets and when I move the routes to other Trainz versions the packaged assets in the dependencies list become unknown and I have to remember where they came from or ask and hunt for the routes the payware or packaged assets came from in the content store. And what do you do when you encounter chump files? Does that mean you need to delete and reinstall the asset?

i still don't understand chump files. what is their purpose? i have 17 of the things and they are probably causing my problems.files like green corona, diesel, sand just a few that are hindering me in getting back my payware locos. as the railcars for wheat, corn, soybean cement and a lot more.
all the
all this grief because i had to move to a larger hard drive. we are not allowed to get(unobtainable). they are stopping me from getting what i have paid for over the years.
frustrated beyond measure.
