Choppy Animation

Ok, I'm playing Trainz 2009 and the animation is always really choppy, and I can never get it to stop. Whether I'm in Driver, Surveyor, or Railyard its always choppy. It has nothing to do with the amount of detail on the layout. Why is I doing this and how do I stop it.(I don't want any answers referring the Trainz 2010 game I have. I was sold a faulty game and GameStop won't do anything about it. Example:"Just play your 2010 game")

Actually, that's where you are wrong. Detail can dramatically affect how the game behaves if it's not handled correctly, and so does the specifications of your system, which you haven't specified.

I can start an entire new layout, add a line of track about half the size of the starting land, and it still gets really choppy.

If that's the case, I would start looking at your computer specifications and make sure they are good enough to meet the recommended requirements for TS2009. Also make sure that you have installed all relevant patches.
