How do you change a MSTS Locomotive Hornsound? Please DO NOT COMMENT by saying ask this at a MSTS Forum!

Thank You.

Why not? You're more likely to get an answer to your many MSTS questions there. Seems to me if you're looking for [name] you should go where there is [name] and not elsewhere.

Dear Tyler, why don't you e-mail Bill Gates and ask him your questions regarding his wonderful new Train sim, I'm sure he'll give you lots of friendly, helpful advice.....and if he can't, then I'm sure he'll put you in touch with someone who he pays an exhorbitant salary to, who can, BUT THEY WON'T BE ON THIS FORUM.

Ex-railwayman.

Time to increase my ignore list!

[YELLS FIRST - OKAY FINISHED YELLING & then rolls eyes  ]

NSTrainz, I think it's about time for my ignore list to be added to.

It is of MY opinion that you may not really have read the MSTS instructions, even though you say otherwise. What on earth is wrong with being on several different train simulator forums?

Actually ex-railwayman is not far from the truth, as you can email/phone MicroSoft about their products for help.

Oh by the way ex-r/man, are you sure Bill Gates still owns Micro$oft?

This is Trainz, we know about Trainz why not just stay with what we can support?

If you want support for another product there are other ways to get support.

How much support you need and how much is available should be part of your decision about which sim to run.

Quite similar to what most of the people in this thread have just done. :o *Edit* My apologies, X/RY man, I didn't completely read your post thoroughly enough.

Edit: Ok, to change a horn sound it's pretty simple if you already have another sound available off hand (One that's already been looped/re-sampled).

Go into the SOUND directory of the engine, and duplicate the hornsound being used (Typically has the term "horn" within the filename) and rename the files to "XXXX.bak" and "X_XXXX.bak". With the original files not being aliased, you'll need to copy / paste in the new horns. Rename the new horn files to the original horn names ("XXXX.bak") replacing .bak with .wav. Do this for both horn sounds, and it should work.

Thanks! I'll try it out.

why NOT ask THIS MSTS QUESTION, at a MSTS FORUM, and not a TRAINZ forum for AURAN TRAINZ under the PROTOTYPE TALK Section?

No offense, was Just wondering...

Red_Rattler;240226 Oh by the way ex-r/man said:
$[/B]oft?

Hello Red_Rattler, I don't think he does anymore to be very honest, he was around when their train sim was created a few years ago. Perhaps nstrainz should apply for the job, he seems to like their current rail sim product.....:hehe:

Cheerz. ex.

I tried to change the NS SD70M-2's Horn and Bell and it still didn't work. Did I do something wrong?

I can't. I'm suppost to wait for my account to be assigned to access to the forums. So I'm stuck asking them here until I can acces to the MSTS forum pages.

Define "didn't work". Does it make a low pitched, distorted sound in-game? Does MSTS not find the sound file? What?

It sounds like the Orginial Dash 9 horn. Same thing with the bell. It always finds the sound file. But when I sounded the horn, it didn't sound like the SD70ACe horn. How do I replace it?

Tyler

Their is a possibility that it MAY (not that it will) over at the UK Train Sim forums, that answers to MSTS problems could take a while, as I'm still waiting to solve this problem here (8 sec video), and another problem posted weeks earlier.

Hi nstrainz

It really would be better for you to seek technical assistance for MSTS on the MSTS forum or an MSTS oriented site.

Cheers

AJ
