Change language

Hi all
How can i change the language in Trainz 2010?My actual game language is german:eek:Maybe a screenshot is most helpful for me.:)
Thanks

The language is hard-coded into the game. To change it, you will need to get a version that is in the language you want.

To post a screenshot though, you need to upload the screenshot to somewhere like ImageShack and post the image link from there into a post.

So shane my question to you. So the language is hard coded into the game how does the company know when you order it what language you want it in? Example you might say something in english when buying it but you speak and understand german better? Maybe I missed this but is there like some setting when buying the game that lets you choose the languge you want?

Not to what I'm aware. The in-game content can be language-changed, but the game itself is hard-coded into the .exe and .dll files.

The only way of changing the language is if you know how to modify the files (which is risky).

Anyway, the foreign-language versions are regional versions, as the version direct from N3V is likely to be English.

There are localised versions of Trainz coded in that countries Language, such as Russian, German. You have to buy the correct version for your language, normally only available in that country unless you get it online.

Well, when I bought my 2010 digital download I thought I would get an English version but after I installed it, it was al in Dutch.
:)
Very nice!

Maybe the download server can see from what country I download... or the program is multi language and choses the right language when installing itself.

Not to support piracy again... But you should contact support and ask them to give out a download to the right version.

Or download it from some torrent site, and enter your serial there. (Since you bought the game and have your own serial I don't see how it would be illegal)

And yes, your IP adress is detected so they know in which country and city you live in, but not the street :) This is probably why you got it in dutch.

It's probably best to contact Helpdesk on that one, as downloading from anywhere else carries the risk of viruses and possibly your serial number getting blocked.

Maybe a misunderstanding...
I don't want an english version, I only thought it would be an english version.
I was very happy when it turned out into a Dutch version after install.

:D

There has already been a warning about posting such info on here a couple of weeks ago. Even if you do have a legal version, N3V are very hot on anything to do with piracy as are all software companies.
Remember they can ban people from the forums and block access to the DLS.

But remember, if someone pay for their software they have to treat their customer right, and give them far more rights... For example Microsoft, can force users to do anything with their computer (if Gates wants to)

I understand Auran wants to protect their software, but in my personal opinion they should find a different way to enforce it (a legal user should have access to his/hers software if they don't want to give it)

And for example "steam", they can take away games from an user for just a simple missunderstanding. The software vendors are treating us as rats... I guess

That's the way the industry works. When you buy a game (or any other software), what you are effectively buying is a license to use that software. You do not fully own the software, so the company who owns that software can dictate what rights a user has.

N3V are normally pretty good at sorting out issues relating to digital download versions via the Helpdesk.

I am well aware of the Steam issues, which is why EA for example have decided to use their own digital download store exclusively, instead of Steam.
