What do you call a car that carry's trash? I have a place in Roanoke that has trash cars setting at the site and their kind of a blue-green color, but I need a name to be able to look them up thanks.

I believe you might be referring to the 85ft trash flatcar as seen here on Jointed Rail? These are available on the Download Station, made by socalwb909. In Content Manager, put "85ft" in the search box and add filters set to the following:

On Download Station - True

I did some research and NS has 12 custom built cars that they use to handle the trash. They will each hold 65 tons of trash loaded by Doosan DX225lC excavator so not sure if we even have to use. I need to see if I can find some pictures of them.

Funnily enough I spotted some of these cars on the back end of some trains passing through my area lately and I could not figure out exactly what they were let alone their purpose.

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I have downloaded the JR cars and will include them on some consists I run.

Cheers,

I've seen some as recently up my way on both NS and CSX. I also set up some trash trains. JR's flats and trash containers are really nice and fit the bill.

The ones I'm seeing at the landfill Valley Tinker Creek Transfer Station in Roanoke Va, on Google look more like big box cars. I got with AI last night and it gave me drawings of a car but still does not look like the ones I see but might be the 3d look I'm getting on Google. It also gave me the colors for the car. RGB 47,111,94 and the trans float values are red 0.184, G0.435 and Blue 0.369.

Maby we can get good old Dave to make some for us.

Looking at the 3D model in Google Earth, they do look quite boxy. To me, they look like large covered gondolas or boxy hoppers, which is interesting as the only trash rail car I know of is the container-on-flatcar type as I shared the other day. Trying to look up information on the cars only gave me articles saying that the facility had stop transporting trash by rail a few years ago, preferring it be done by road trucks instead. Still an interesting thing though. Your best bet would be reskinning a boxy-looking covered hopper. May not turn out exactly like the real-world cars, but perhaps it'll be the solution for now until someone decides to model the cars for Trainz.

They were specially made by NS. they said 12 but I see more then 12 setting there.

and one in green. Let me know if you need more than this or if you need the drawings that I just got from AI.

The other car AI drew is still a good car and could be made to and then we would have both trash cars. That car is the one used on long haul trains because it is closed up. Ai said that the car is a tall gondola not a boxcar, it's just the 3D view I'm getting in Google earth.

Did everyone give up on me and this car, I checked the download and put in NS trash gondola, and nothing comes up so do we not have any of this type cars?

My other challenge at the moment is Pacific Electric. Simply building "block of wood" models from the AI-generated 5-views would be trivial, if that would satisfy.

At least one on DLS at 53 ft:
<kuid2:60238:39698:2> NS Corrugated Gondola 53 ft Empty
Looks like that is about it for the 53 foot NS.
RGCX has done several 60ft labeled as NS, but only a few actually are:
<kuid2:128368:600057:2> 60ft Gondola NS 187660
<kuid2:128368:600049:2> 60ft Gondola NS 187532
<kuid2:128368:600048:2> 60ft Gondola NS 187779
<kuid2:128368:600056:2> 60ft Gondola NS 187675
<kuid2:128368:600054:2> 60ft Gondola NS 194451
<kuid2:128368:600053:2> 60ft Gondola NS 194757
<kuid2:128368:600051:2> 60ft Gondola NS 200384
<kuid2:128368:600050:2> 60ft Gondola NS 617584
Sureshot28 has this one on DLS: <kuid:55290:15001> NS GONDOLA
