Cant Uncouple

Reached the end of the tutorial. Won't uncouple. I tried map mode, extenal view. Won't do it. For whatever reason, I find it very difficult to move external view around so that I see right between the locomotive and the first car. Any help?

When in the external view, click the Decouple button (which should have a coupler icon on it), then hover the mouse cursor over the couplers that you would like to decouple until you see a big, red coupler icon, then click on that red coupler icon. ;)

Well, this is the procedure for TRS2004. It may very well be similar to TS2010.

Regards.

I can't get external to move for whatever reason. Is there a way to select where I want to decouple from the map. I find exteranl view to be most cumbersome.

To move the camera in External View (F2) you can either use the Arrow keys or hold the right Mouse button down and move the mouse.

I have never found the view cumbersome to move.

External view is pinned to the vehicle. If you are having trouble, then use the the freecam view.

I am not sure you guys "get" what I am saying. In either external view or free roam, when the train is at the particular point, I cannot turn view. If I click on the mouse away from the train, it still will not turn. ... Hence I cannot get a view right between the cars.
Why cannot one simply uncouple from the map view? This game is becoming very frustrating, very fast.

Hi Einsamer_Wolf - In External view and Free roam the view should change when you use the left and right cursor arrows.

In Free roam, hold the right mouse button and move the mouse. Use the mouse wheel or Page-up and Page-down to zoom.

Hope this helps.

It does not when the enginge and consist are in that particular spot. Otherwise it did in that scenario.

Ditto with free roam. I can move away from the train but I cannot turn the view when the train is at that particuar point.

I don't understand what you mean "in that particular spot." what particular spot?

To move with the mouse 'right click' and drag to move your view.

Just normally if you click decouple and move the mouse over all cars you should see the red decouple icon appear as you mouse over the different cars.

Does it work on the other cars but not directly behind the engine?
Are you saying that where the scenario has you park you just can't reach to behind the locomotive?

it is very hard to picture what you are saying.

However, The decouple scenario is not something you "have to" finish. I seriously reccomend that if it is just a problem in this one area, skip that scenario and do another. There are much better. Some times you jst can't get in to some places.

Ok when the train is by the warehouse, I can scroll around move around to different views. However whent he train is at the north entrance the view is frozen. It acts like the program is stalling, but only when the train is at that particualr location.

Ya know, i kinda remember this from way back when. I never did figure it out. I remember wondering why anyone would make a tutorial to show me how sometimes you just can't do what you want.

It won't work, and you have my permission to move on.:D

Just wait untill you get stuck on a turntable, that sucks. And another hint, when you are at a session that has a red signal that never turns green and ends the session when you pass it and you try forever to get it to change and it never does - give up on that one too(you will be driving a blue UK loco expecting a great fun passenger run when this happens).

Anyway, more fun to be had when you skip it. The tutorials are not so good anyway.

If you can't get a side view, can you right click and move the mouse to get a directly overhead view, then zoom in and select the decouple toggle to decouple?

Also, can you use the + - buttons to move down the train and then back again to see if that gives the program a wake up.

Thanks. It sounds like it is a bug in the tutorial. My concern is I do not know how to uncouple cars. . ..

It's not that difficult as it appears, really.

Click on the coupler of the train or locomotive that needs to move away from the consist.

Set the brake. Click on the consist you want to uncouple from and press A to apply the brake.

The car or cars is now parked where you want it. If you don't set the brake, the train will roll away.
