Hi i've been trying to find out what a kuid is for and to download with no success. It's kuid2:46162:60004:1 if anyone has a idea of what and where i can get it that would be greatly appriciated :).

The early version kuid:46162:60004 (aluminium billet by josefpav) is built-in to TS10. You could substitute it for the later one.

Since you have two versions of TS, I'm going to assume that the first part of your post is simply awkward wording, and that you do in fact know, generally, what KUIDs are for, and you are trying to find out what the specific KUID is assigned to. Dropping the suffix "2" from KUID, and the revision information, I find that this appears to be an update of the product, "Aluminum billets", KUID:46162:60004, whose author ID (46162) is assigned to "josefpav". The product is not on the DLS. However, josefpav is (was) associated with HP-Trainz, so the HP-Trainz website (<http://www.hp-trainz.de/html/Geschenkt_EN.html>) might be a place to look for this, and if not found there, I expect they can tell you where to find it.

Hi mjolnir
Thanks yeah it was awkward wording lol. I've emailed that site and asked if they know anything about it. How would i grab the one that is built into TS10?. I don't actually have it installed right now only 12.

Mikej was the one to suggest using the version from TS10. My personal course of action would be to try to get the upgrade from HP-Trainz. If you were going to do it, you'd probably have to re-install TS10 (which I would do on a thumb drive--it works, I've done it, though for TS 10 you'd probably need an 8 GB drive) and from the TS 10 Content Manager, find the asset and export ut as a ~.CDP file, then import the ~.CDP file into TS12. (You may have to clone the item to export it; if so, when you import it, open the item for editing, and change the KUID numbers back to the original.

yeah i realized it did that after haha. I was in a rush when i typed that out. That website did have that and sent it to me. Seems i still got 38 other missing ones from clinch cars to box cars. Too bad too its the UMR multiplayer i am trying to get going but this thing is just being a pain :(

Finding kuids can be a bit of a treasure hunt. I always check the DLS, then the TPR Download Depot, then failing those, I search these forums for mention of the same. When all else fails there's always Google or Bing...sometimes it helps to type the kuid number several different ways into a search engine; it may not recognize the kuid prefix, but will hit on the number alone. It also helps to drop the "2" from the end when searching for the original.

I pretty much follow the same procedure Euphod outlined, but in a slightly different order: I start (and often end) with Google, and because Google knows about these forums, I skip searching the forums directly. If I don't find anything there, I open the content managers, sort by author ID in ascending order (this is the number between the first and second colon of the KUID), and see if I can find the name associated with the KUID from there, it's a matter of association to see what Third party site the author is associated with, and start the hunt there. This is especially useful when the 3rd party site is not in an English speaking country. Also, while Euphod is correct about the utility of Trainz Pro Routes (TPR), that is not the only 3rd party site with content. HP Trainz, Blue Sky Interactive, and USLW, just to name the first four sites to come to mind, also have content, as you've found.

In fact, sometimes, when I don't feel like running a train, and am not feeling sociable enough to participate in the forums, it's worth the time invested just to navigate to different 3rd party sites, and see what is available.

am not feeling sociable enough to participate in the forums,

But we are happy for the other times!

I agree that TPR is not the only third party site with content, I only mention it as it is a large depository of content, much of it for earlier versions, and the odds are good a lost kuid may be there. I find that Google and other search engines do a good job of finding mentions of kuids on other third party sites, and will flag kuids on TPR's forums, it does not seem to find a listing on the Depot.:)

Hi,
I'm running the UMR Multiplayer and it works fine, but I must take a new install of TS12. It must be ONLY built-in and ONLY DLS Content.
After new install, download the UMR Multiplayer-Session (via CM), it will load the needed Content (inclusive Map). All needed Content is on DLS.

Have Fun
