Can't Delete Animated Tractor?

I have an animated tractor tilling a field. I would like to move it or delete it.However, I can't find a way to do that. It resists any attempts to click on it or its path. The asset is listed in my Objects tool.

I too have been frustrated trying to delete these animated objects. You just have to keep trying along the path it takes and eventually you will find the "anchor" point for the object.

Another possible way would be to use the replace asset tool and replace the tractor with a static object (current section only if you do not want to delete it all over the map) and then delete that.

Hi,
Just a thought - what tab are you using?

Moving tractors (etc) are likely to be in the train folder (and run on invisible track)

This sounds a bit like animated jd-tractor, which is an object found in the Objects tab.

If so, the anchor point is approximately halfway along its path over seven 10m grid squares. Go into wireframe mode and count three and a half squares along its long parallel "oval" course and LMB machine gun in between the invisible tracks in that approximate position, with the delete button selected.

It take a bit of hitting, but I've just managed to zap it three times!

If it's the animated tractor by Neoklai75 (I think it's kuid:370528:1380), the best way to find the anchor point is to place another of the same and note closely where the tractor is on the red line when you FIRST place it. Then, click that location on the one you wish to delete and it should work.

Hope this helps.

Why not Delete or Disable in CMP.

I agree. I've had trouble deleting or moving this tractor myself. It can be very frustrating. It's a great piece of content, but finding its anchor point can be an adventure.

What I would recommend is deleting it in CM which should give the route a missing dependency. Open the route and then 'Delete missing assets', then save the route. This is the method that I've had to resort to before. Afterwards, you can always reinstall the tractor into CM.

Hi Everyone,

No don't muck about in CM deleting stuff;
go to the 'Tools Tab'
select 'Copy and Paste'
make sure only objects are selected to be copied
select a area of the board with no objects on it
paste the selected area over the ninja object:wave:

This should get rid of hard to select or stuck objects on that section of the map.

By the way, if you download kuid:101927:100677 you will see that asset has been created with a bit of thought. It has a 'handle' that is only visible in Surveyor ( the red arrow ) that makes moving or deleting it easy.

Looking straight down there must be a path that the tractor takes, get right directly over it, and click all over the place, and possibly you will hit the sweet spot.

As I recall, the anchor point does not lie in the path that the tractor takes. It's off some distance from the path.

Ready, aim, fire!

The tractor I referred to is animated jd-tractor kuid:50567:1036

The spot to hit is definitely inside the parallel track at approximately mid way.

It’s hard to hit the exact spot, so pepper the area if you must get rid of it.

The red X shows roughly where to aim for.

It such a good asset though. It always has a place somewhere on my rural routes!

This should get rid of hard to select or stuck objects on that section of the map.

And emphasize ONLY objects selected, deselect height, textures, and splines.

Otherwise, if there's any change in height and texture from where you copied, the tractor will indeed disappear...but you'll have a big funny square hole in the field that's not textured with the field's texture, or you'll have a big funny square mountain in the field that's not textured with the field's texture. :hehe:

It should work quite well, at least if you don't have anything else in the field with the tractor.

Another idea as to how to remove item

I have had problems with items I added to a new layout. If you can not remove the item you just added do what I do. Just exit the work and don't save. I have added extra layout panels to one I was working on and I did not like the way it looked so I just closed the survayer and did not save it. Hope it helps

I've had an added thought regarding this unwanted tractor.

I'm really beginning to feel quite sorry for it now!:'(

Finding the anchor point is equally necessary to be able to rotate the path of the tractor so that it can run in line with textured furrows. You don't want it travelling through hedges, trees or buildings. However, lining it up carefully and seeing it drive in and out of one of Dinorius_Refundicus' barns at the end of one of its turns might be quite neat! (Other barns are available):o

Hi Cascade.

Yes, that's the one as referenced to in all of my posts in this thread.

Whether it's the one being asked about by the OP remains to be confirmed.
