Cannot Open Routes

Hi,

Sorry if this is a newbie question. I purchased Trainz 12 recently (already had the Mac version). Noticing there were way fewer routes I figured out (thanks to this forum) how to download a heap of them, but not no routes will open at all in Trainz (even the ones that came with Trainz).

They show up in the routes menu but clicking does nothing.

Any ideas?

I've repaired the database and also set in Content Manage to Commit and reopen in Trainz, but no luck.

Any tips would be appreciated. Till then I'm going back to the Mac version to get my fix.

Thanks in advance.

Tim

You must toggle your favorites star to allow all routes to be displayed in the menu page.

Thanks for the reply. As I said though, the routes are showing up just fine on the menu page, they are just not clickable. e.g. nothing happens when I click them. I cannot get them to load up.

Ah, sorry then that I could not help. I wonder if, for some reason, the routes have become "read only" files. I read another thread concerning this issue that suggested that all executable files in the Trainz directory must be designated as "Run as Administrator".

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried marking all the files read/write. and I am actually running as Administrator.

I gave up and have re-installed (in the process).

Will let you know how I get on. When I installed it initially I had no problems playing the initial routes, just adding new routes stopped the existing and the new routes from working.

Fingers crossed it works this time :)

I could not save my routes when I edited them, turned out that when I moved the TS12 folder out of Program Files and changed all the exes incl the shortcut to "run as admin" I could save my routes fine. I lost a whole day of building because of this stupid thing. Maybe this will help for you.

Thanks, I will try that if I get stuck.

I reloaded the program and sure enough the included routes are working, so I am going to download a single route and try it out.

Cheers

Tim

Use CMP to make sure that you have all of the needed dependencies for a particular route. Also, check them for faulty dependencies (assets).

If you are simply clicking the route name on the Routes list, it's not likely to do much. You then need to click Sessions, then select the session you want followed by either Edit Session or Drive Session depending on what you want to do at the time.

Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, it was working just fine before I added routes. Sorry I did not make it clear but I did click session, or quick drive and neither worked.

The thing is, it stopped ALL routes from working, including the built in routes that came with trainz. I will check this out as well. Thanks for the info.
