Can this be used in TRAINZ 2010

I have some box cars that show up perfectly on TRAINZ 09, but seem to have a problem with 2010. The screen shots will demonstrate much better than I can describe here. This is one example out of about 30 that I have. In both cases option settings are identical and hardware acceleration is turned off. I am using a MSI GT 430 video card with the latest (this week) drivers. The only difference is that TRAINZ 09 is installed on "C" drive and TRAINZ 2010 is installed on a partition. I have run these boxcars through CCP, PM2IM, run EDR's, changed build #'s, etc. and nothing seems to have any effect on the rendering in 2010. If anyone has a solution or suggestion that I have not tried your comments are most welcome.I selected one of the cars at random. It is kuid 146523:109. Incidentally, it shows error free in both 09 and 10 which adds to the frustration.

THE SAME ACL BOXCAR IN TRAINZ 2010

I can't offer a solution but maybe add a piece to the puzzle. This car shows up perfectly on my machine in TS2010, which I have patched up to date. I have Trainz installed on my C drive, running under Win7, video card is Nvidia GeForce 220, 1G video ram. Nothing special, everything is on the default settings.

Hope someone can figure it out because it is bizarre, but it is definitely not the boxcar that is the problem.

Difference may be in the video settings for the games - example, running TS2009 in DirectX, TS2010 in OpenGL. Check the 2009 settings, reset 2010 to match, see if that fixes it. IIRC I had rainbow water in TS2010 in OpenGL (which I think is default) until I patched up to 44088, now I can run in OpenGL without problems.

I am running DirectX in both 09 & 10. Tried OGL and it had no effect. I reverted to DirectX due to vastly superior frame rates (like double). I am patched to 44088 and have the Blue Comet Add on. 99% of the content renders beautifully except for these 30+/- boxcars and a handful of other assets, (mostly buildings) that look similar to the boxcars. I suspect it is mesh related somehow, but cannot put my finger on the source.

Thanks for your input,

I am happy to report that my rendering problem for downloads and imports from TRAINZ 09 into TRAINZ 2010 is no longer an issue. I finally discovered an obscure and well concealed setting in CM3.3 that was causing my grief. It is under Files/Settings/Miscellaneous/Disable Hardware Acceleration. I un-ticked it, opened an asset for edit and committed. Issue Gone. Who knew that there was another acceleration option beside the one in the Main Menu?

When you are committing content, content manager compress the textures into DX1/DX3/DX5 format using GPU or CPU. The conversion by GPU is not supported for a lot of graphic cards, but it is faster. So in your case you had to disable conversion by GPU, use the CPU and wait a bit longer when installing new content.

Thank you TRam. Now we know. I was using auto commit so a delay was not an option. I now have a variety of vintage and contemporary box cars to populate my freight yards and consists. Trainz is fun again.
