can the stand alone trainz: settle and carlisle be used in other trainz games

Hi

Ive just snapped up trainz settle and carlisle on steam in the sale and i am liking the new additional engines on the game :) . I have noticed that most of the menu buttons are greyed out e.g. surveyor but it is just a route at the end of the day. (would have liked to have taken a britannia up the line in a free roam :P

What i am curious to know is can i import it into one of the latest trainz games? - i have a feeling my 2004 and 2006 are out dated lol

It can be used, but only with TS2009,TS2010, and TS12 - it would probably have to be a Steam version as well, as it is tricky to copy the files around.

Thanks for the info - will give it ago. i didnt think the steam one was different! as the sale continues i shall purchase ts12 after christmas :). im assuming its a straight copy and paste?

could it still be used if i was to buy a cd version os ts12? just wondering as there is a lot to download

There are some differences between the Steam version and other versions, due to the way Steam handles updates and due to the format of the Steam folder.

ah ok. it has been a while since ive played trainz. Ill probs end up getting ts12 off steam as theres 75% off the price!

I got the Murchison2 and S&C from Steam when they were on sale about 18 months ago, and copied them into 2009, 2010 and TS12 with no problems. The Murchison needed some of the sessions updating to the correct map-kuid, but that's not a Steam issue, I don't think. Just copied the .ja files into the built-in folder, entered license key, one EDR later, all well.

Hi guys, seems ive been hooked into running trains on the GEML on railworks.... my apologises! i am in the process (VERY SLOW process :P 10 hours) downloading a steam TS12. i see its backwards compatible with ts2010 stuff so hopefully the S&C works well with it. It may take a while to download........ before i can start copying and pasting
 
ok so everythings up and running (S&C installed by itself after puttin i all the serial codes) now though ive hit a problem. ive put stuff from ts2006 in to ts12 and the game refuses to do anything but load up the main screen - content manager again does the same thing :( seems the game has gone wrong. any ideas?
 
no I wasn't - generally not sure what went wrong now :S i left it for 15 mins and it came up with the usual this program is not responding. game closed, but i still had CM up from earlier after downloading a car. i pressed launch trainz and started commiting items (i remembered to do that after thinking back to 06 days!). i got up cannot connect to steam client. ignoring this i reloaded the game up and now its working :S. CM wasnt lauched via steam TS12 icon but from DLS. weird init! Going to try and get up CM again... Going by my ts04, that CM took 15 mins to load up the database, but has much more content.
