Hi Robin,

I can help on the first part regarding priorities, direction markers and trackmarks.

To have a train take a particular track you can go about it two ways. I use the trackmarks, which are found on the third tab off of the track objects, to direct my trains around sidings and yards. The trackmarks are simply placed where you want the train to drive by, you name them whatever you want, and then tell the drive to drive via the trackmark.

To have trains take a particular track all the time, like keeping right at all sidings and passing loops, a direction marker can be used. There is no need to name these, however you can if you wish. For the track direction marker, place them so that the pointed end faces the direction you want the train to travel in.

The last, but not the least, trackmark is the priority marker. This involves assigning priorities to your consists. This is done by Click on the get info button for each consist you setup in Surveyor. Each consist is assigned a priority of 1-3, with 0 being the default. The purple priority marks are placed on tracks and are assigned a value. The train with the appropriate priority will take that track that has the corresponding value assigned to that priority marker. In general I have only tried this once or twice, and never really had a use for it in my situation.

I hope this helps.

cheers for that ... i will give it a try ....

but what i was really after was something to do with switching and something that makes the switches urn before the train gets to the junction in question ...

for example; a train(No.1a, with < being the direction of travel) is traveling along a single track and is approaching a junction as below;

-------<4----
\
-----------3>------
\
-------------------------------------------------------<1a-----
/
-------------------------2>--------
/
----------------------<1----

all i want is to get the train to travel along the track designated for 1 and 1a.
all my trains seem to do is get to the junctions and completely ignore their route and take a completely different route and bugger every other train.

you'll have to excuse my diagram for looking funny but the / and \ are meant to be in at the ends of the top and bottom tracks to represent the junctions

One possible solution is to create more trackmarks along each possible route and instruct the trains to visit each relevant one in turn.

Alternatively, there are Rules which allow you to set the directions of junctions. On DLS, search for Rules, with the word "junction" (without quotes) in the title. There are quite a few possibilities listed there and one might well serve your needs.

HTH, John

I have been trying to get priority to work with TS2009 and it seems it only works in a session. I can set the priority in a layout but it always reverts to default (2) when I go to Driver. The set priority is only remembered when set in a session and only for that session. Or so it seems.
