Can Mac Trainz do Multi' w/ TS2010 or TS2012?

I have searched as well as I could, but couldn't find out if the TS Mac's multiplayer can join "some" games with TS2010 or TS12. Do they use the same servers? Can a route be made where assets that are common (e.g. available) in both Mac and PC (Windows) versions? I saw one post that saw that Mac was comparable to TS2010 any many regards. I'd hope that the multiplayer client/server protocols of TS12 and TSMac would be compatible; but I'd even be happy if Mac could join in multi player with TS2010.

We have TS2010ee, TS Mac from Apple's APP store.

If I want to play along with another family member; I'll need to buy either: two (2) copies of TS12, or hopefully one copy of TS12, or the simplest would be one more copy of TS Mac.

As far as I am aware, a Trainz Mac user cannot join a TS2010 multiplayer session because of the trainz-build differences, and I'm not sure about TS12.

The one official answer I got was "the underlying technology is there", but testing with a Mac user we found that when he hosted a session I could not see it in the TS12 list, when I hosted the same session in TS12 he could not see it in his Mac list.
