Can I Still Buy 2009?

I got mine back in April on ebay. It was $29.00 with free shipping. There were about a half dozen listing for 09 at the time. 09 works great for me and and is a significant upgrade from 06. It is a little more adept at picking up asset errors though. The installation of the updates can be a bit tricky. You need a specific version of Direct X or the update process will abort.

I just checked on eBay. There are 5 different US listings for 09. No free shipping though. Not a big issue since typical shipping is around $4.00 a copy.

just for fun I went to auran shop and saw that trs09 dvd rom is still selling and is in stock.

but the price seems a little high since its in aus money and mybe the game is that good I do not know.

A lot depends on what you want to do with Trainz. TS2009 has more built in content, which is good if you want to build layouts, and it is also very stable once you get it sorted. Ts2010 is more for someone who wants to run driving sessions and requires quite a lot of downloading if you want to expand it. there are also one or two bugs still in 2010 but there is another service pack to come I think. Most items that work in 2009 will aslo work in 2010 but items built specifically for 2010 will not always work in 2009 so you could update to 2010 later if you want to.

It was my impression that 2010 contained all of the older legacy content as well a goood selection of new routes and content. As such, would it not mean that 2010 has the most built-in items?

Hi Patrick,

If you include speedtrees,then yes 2010 does have more built in. Perhaps I should reword it that 2009 has more variety of content.
