Hey man i know you know alot about the LIRR, so I had a question.
If you travel east on the hempstead line, before you turn south past Garden city, if you instead continue heading east, the track goes on about a mile and stops. I viewed this in google Earth, and you can see where the ROW was, which looks like it was connected to the ronkonkoma branch! Also, if you use google earths date feature, there were alot of sidings that were removed.
Do you have any clue why this is so?
