Calling-on signals

Is there a way to implement this procedure In 2006?

There was a post on this topic just the other day. Can't quite remember where. Please do a search.
If my memory serves me correctly, it cannot be implemented as a general feature in any version, assuming TS2009 will not do it either.
From what I remember, I think it may be operable when you script a session.

@ davidbird - My colleague and I are working on a project involving a driver command that detects the signal ahead and sets it to one of a number of extended states. Signals that are suitable equipped such as Signal BR 1 will display the call-on lights.

The command automatically resets the signal when the train passes by, and the signals do not need to be named.

@Kennilworth - Brian, would you be interested in beta-testing the command?

Best Regards

Hi Trevor

Yes I'm definately interested in beta testing the rule for you as I feel it's something that's been lacking in Trainz for quite some time.

davidbird - I wasn't sure if you were asking if it could be done or if you were demonstrating something that you have achieved. Obviously from your answer you've found a way to do it. Congratulations, I'm certain there will be a lot of interest in it (myself included) in the UK if not further afield.

Regards

Brian

Sounds good glad someone has taken this up. Would be up for testing if need be. Would be interesting to see if it can be used in conjunction with the JS timetable rule.

It's out to testing now, with the creators of the original items used. My (limited) testing suggests it works, and, like Bloodnok's Signal & Target system, it is saved on the map and does not need setting up either in a session or as a driver command. It relies on the "Permissive Trigger" to do the detecting and setting extended state, which is already released, see here on this thread. All I've done is made the adaptations to the signal to enable the display of the extended state; as thats all it is, I'll not go any further until I've heard back from the original creator.

How about this?

:D
I've heard back from the creator of the original signals as in my screenshot. I'll not be progressing these to release, not because of refusal of permission, but to avoid confusion, as he's planning an "official" upgrade of the signals to include calling-on. Meanwhile, if anybody wants details of how I've achieved this, I'll send them on.
