Calling all railfans in Chicagoland...

Now T:ANE I can get into
If you haven't already heard, this weekend, the Illinois Railway Museum's entire Nebraska Zephyr set is going to be running back and forth from Chicago to Quincy (It hasn't made this trip since 1968). I just watched it arrive downtown about an hour and a half ago, and I must say, the "Silver Pilot" looks pretty good at 72 years old (It had a UP GP15 pulling it, but I believe this was for signaling purposes).

It's too late to purchase tickets to actually ride it, but you can always head down to the Racetrack to get some pictures or video of it. How many chances do you get to see an EMC E5 operating nowadays?

More info can be found at http://www.irm.org/events/zephyrexcursion.html

If I had the money I would have the family out there.
That is so cool. Hopefully somebody gets good HD Video to share.

SUCKERS! I caught it! lol

Acutally, I caught a BNSF Executive Train as well as the Nebraska Zepher (btw, The conducter is SO NICE, he stopped the train to allow a BNSF freight to pass so we could get pics :)

I caught the executive train ,too and the Amtrak phase IV heritage, before the Zephyr.

I have always thought those streamliners across the pond looked nice and they still do. Didn't realise in contrast how clunky inside the cab is in contrast. Nice to see a train lasting over 70 years and still capable.
