Having recently chatted with our Chief Trainz correspondent in Norway, that old maestro himself Lars, reminded me of a trip I did exactly 7 years ago this month, to his homeland, and decided to post a few photos of a memorable day out on the Flam Railway, between Voss and Myrdal, and then onto the Sognefjord for a boat trip. I hope that these shots might aspire some others to avail themselves of the gorgeous scenery, wonderful Norwegian hospitality and fantastic public transport systems on offer for an unforgettable holiday.

First of all i'm not old:p

Second, You really know how to pick your vacation spots.
Flomsbana is the most beautyful trip you can take by rail in norway.
The western part of norway is just gorgeous, i have to say that, since i live there myself.
This is one of the few railroads, that still uses old passenger cars.
PLEASE feel free to share more from your trip.

For those who like to see what norwegian nature at its wildest can offer, i will strongly suggest http://www.raumabanen.com/

Hi Lars, one of the main reasons for visiting Bergen was that it was honoured with the title European City of Culture in 2000, along with 8 other European cities that year, but was probably the prettiest to have been afforded such status IMHO. Thanks for your link to the Raumabanen railway, something I have looked at in the past for a possible future visit to your beautiful country.

Here are just a few more photos from my little vacation to Bergen. I doubt if I will receive anything from the Norwegian Tourist Board for this free plug, but here's hoping...
