Buying the Simulator

I just joined the community and even though I'm just a teenager I'm very interested in Engineering and I'm even taking classes about engineering and this Simulator caught my attention. It looked like a cool program I could use and mess around with. I'm even thinking of being a Civil Engineer. I also am wondering how is speed tree incorporated into Trainz 2010?

I'm thinking on buying the Simulator but I can't find the Simulator any where in retailers. Does anybody know where I can buy the game in stores?

Best buy is from the auran site as it is normaly the latest version. Click Download Station at top of this screen and then on buy now. You can get the download version or the cd.

First, best bet is to buy it straight from Auran. If you choose digital download, plan on using a decent (and spyware-free) download helper, since it is several gigabytes and a number of files too. Personally, I prefer to buy the physical product, even if I have to pay a shipping fee and have to wait a few weeks.

The SpeedTree rendering engine is incorporated as a DLL, I believe, and are primarily rendered by the GPU, rather than by the CPU as most Trainz content is rendered. This should offload work away from the CPU, which is busy enough. However, my observance from these forums is that some low and even mid-range systems still take some performance hit from the SpeedTrees. They do look nice, though.

Although I am retired now, I did study Civil Engineering in college and feel qualified to inform you that TRAINZ would be a great learning tool, especially in Surveyor Mode. You can also plan on having a lot of fun with the program while you are at it. I obtained my copy of 2009 via e-bay for $30. However, 2010 is the latest version and is best obtained directly from Auran. Welcome to the Club.

I prefer the physical CD itself too since I like having CD's incase my computer crashes or some other weird thing happens. I also was wondering what the bonus gift thing was which is the 3 Simulation Pack. Could someone explain that deal to me? I would like know if I get three other Simulations or even add-ons are fine.
