Businessmen/women as passengers

I'd like to replace the Auran passengers on my route with different ones, the businessmen and businesswomen would suit :)hehe: ) my route better than the casual kids that are the default. Can it be done?

Thanks,
Mick Berg

Mick,
passengers are a product and a station is an industry, so you need to set your stations to the passenger kuid you require (in config.txt). In your rolling stock you need to set the queue with the same product kuid (I think it can be an alternative product ) Check the content creation manual. There are passenger sets for various regions and eras, check em out on the DLS.

Clone one of my passenger sets then replace the people with business men and women.

The DLS KUID: 86627:1799 is the only place to pick them up.

Thanks John.
As it turns out, I like your late Victorian passenger sets better than the new business people! Some of them actually have bowler hats and brollies (the city gent look) that I wanted. And it actually makes sense, my route is from the early fifties, the business people are from 2006-ish, your set is from 1898, so they are a closer match in time!
Thanks,
Mick Berg.

If you clone it then pick out the figures that aren't your period and replace them with more suitable ones it shouldn't look too bad.

hi john

how do i pick out and replace passengers?
thanks
ron

if you open up the config.txt file you'll see

male-stand01 {
mesh "body/blackbowler.im"

Under the body folder you'll find the .im files and a load of .tga files. Replace the mesh "body/blackbowler.im" line with one pointing to a different .im file.

Really you need to set up a scenery item to view each one, so clone a bit of scenery then replace the .im file with the one of interest and change the name in the config.txt file. You'll need to copy in the .tga files as well.

Misterchugg beat me to it in asking how to replace the characters. It seems complicated but not impossible.

Thanks,
Mick Berg.

The challenge is to get decent performance. We experimented with 250 poly figures but they don't look right until you start to hit 600 polys. Also each texture file you have adds the equivalent load of 200 polys so if you look at Elvenor's set he combines the texture files into a single texture file.

I work with Bob Sanders who has been using a poseable GMAX source to create a fair number of people but to get these packaged into a passenger set that performed even reasonably well would mean retexturing them to use a single texture file but it could be done just a fair chunk of work.
