Brisbane Route Model for TRS2006

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me an update on the TRS2006 model of the Brisbane suburban network. At the Brisbane Model Train show last year (2007), there was a model of track segment from Carseldine to Northgate... just wondering if anyone knows if this section is available (since I live out that way), and how progress is going on the rest of the network.

I live out this way as well, so I have a vested interest in the NCL (North Coast Line). All I know, is Brisbane South and Gold Coast are on the DLS, Ipswich line is being worked on, and the NCL as far as Petrie is likewise being worked on. There's definitely some beautiful work and dedication being put into a lot of these, so let's all hope the creators don't get pressured to release it too early, but do it to the best of their abilities and then release :)

OK, thanks mate. Guess the south coast will do for the moment... plenty of railway to travel there.

Any idea if there's any interest in modelling the Cleveland, Doomben, Shorncliffe or Ferny Grove lines?

Also, it seems I'm missing alot of the required subfiles from DLS, or at least DLS doesn't recognise the KUIDs. Any idea on where I can get them?
It's possible that they may be TRS2004 files, I've discovered. Any way I can get them, having gotten a retail TRS2006 copy?

Also, a little off-topic, does anyone know of a QR 160 series IMU that's available?

I am making a working EMU set and also making bridges etc for the Ippy line, the woes of g max and problem hardware hopefully you should see some stuff soon.:D

At the last QLD Trainz Users meeting, Brian (shamrock2002) mentioned the idea of releasing the Petrie-Caboolture line as is. Hopefully that will eventuate fairly soon. We are lacking up here on the northside...

Hopefully you won't have any more hardware "glitches" Bruce. They can be a bugger to fix.

Chris

I would imagine so, especially in terms of the indooroopilly bridge. Good luck to you. Looking forward to seeing the final product.

Whilst I'm pretty new to all this sort of thing. gmax and whatnot included, I'd like to offer my services where useful. I've just completed 3rd year Mechanical Engineering at UQ, if that comes in handy.

I would love to be able to attend one of the group meetings. I have some stuff that me old mate Mulie has been chasing for ages and it might even help the Brisbane project.

Brisbane routes

I have converted the content of Norm Phythian's Brisbane South 2004 and Gold Coast 2004 to TRS2006. It was a lot of work with CMP and CCP but the effort was well worth while. Some 700 items were originally deemed faulty by CMP so I just plodded through them. Most were really simple fixes that CCP did with little help from me. There were three or four items that I could not fix so I just deleted them from the route, and substituted others where there were gaps in the tracks.

I don't know if it's appropriate to upload revisions of other peoples creations so I have kept them to myself. I now have about a 1000 items that show up under the locally modified tab of CMP.

I am still thinning out the peripheral scenery to try to eliminate frame jerking, and adding a few things like working traffic lights at some visible intersections, and passenger stations, with thanks to Andi06 for his AJS range of goodies.

Converting to TRS2006 can be done and it's a great way to learn about TRS2006's CMP and CCP.

I am also creating a cab for a QR EMU based on some photo's I downloaded.
I have also added seating, passengers, and undercar details to QR SMU from the DLS. + more

Also check out my XXXX brewery on the DLS as "Milton Brewery Brisbane"

there is a small band of dedicated QR route builders building the QR Suburban Network. We are also lucky to have a great team of Content builders supplying us with dedicated content required to bring the various lines we built to life. we will get there and get the job done sooner or later. Me well i am making the Ipswich line and at a rough guess i am 50-75% of my way through it. if you want to see progress of my work Garrad check out the Australian Screenshot Thread in the Screenshot Forums on this board.

Had a loook at the screen shots, they look excellent Ghostryder.

One question... I'm assuming you are building/have built Roma Street Station, judging by your screenshots. Are you incorporating the current renovations being performed to allow for the construction of the Queen Street/Roma Street Busway?

Actually, another question:
Seems I'm having a little trouble getting two of the assets required for the Gold Coast line: here are the KUIDs:

51275:2120049
51275:7234229

They're both by "Williamg". Any ideas on where I can obtain them?

thank you for your comments, now to answer your question about the Ipswich line. The era i am following for my route is set during the 1966-76 period, it would not take much to modernize it, i also am aware there is a person who could be making the route in the modern era but am not 100% sure.

Thank you for the XXXX Brewery it fitted in nicely on my route. if you have any other structure from along the Ipswich line or the line though to Albion please let me know.

Cheers

Yes, I had hoped to get it on the DLS before the Christmas break at Auran but unfortunately had a few setbacks that prevented me doing this. I'm currently in the final stages of tidying it up and sorting through the AI. The route isn't complete and I have no idea when it will be, but rather than leave it "unfinished" for months on end, I'll upload what I have done so far.

Probably the biggest bugbear at the moment is trying to get it to connect to NormP's Brisbane South layout. We had both started working on our layouts separately and it wasn't until Norm released his layout that I was actually aware of it.

This is probably not the best place to put up screenshots so I've put them in another thread over here.

Cheers - Brian

Yes hardware glitches have been a concern for me, but I will sort it soon, also I have a working interior for my EMU's hopefully these will be released soon........

Brisbane routes

Garrad,
I have the Gold Coast route working without the Williamg assets. I just deleted them as missing assets in surveyor. I can't see any holes in the layout so what ever they are they don't affect operation or the look of things.

Have you connected the two routes together? I hesitate to do so because the Brisbane South route is so big and takes ages to load even on my new PC.

The Gold coast route has some sections that are sparcely populated but in reality are densly populated. I hope NormP may revisit his excellent work and update it.

On the subject of the Cleveland line the Brisbane South route also goes to Wynnum, so could easily be extended to the end of the line.

Peter V

OK, thanks for the Peter.

In regards to the Cleveland line, fair enough. The question was mainly directed at some early searches I did on CMP, that found an actual Cleveland line. Any ideas if this version is still available, or if I was mistaken?

In terms of deleting the Williamg assets, how do you do this in Surveyor. Apologises for my ignorance, as I'm relatively new to the Surveyor.

Finally, no I haven't connected them, as I'm in the process of downloading the Brisbane South layout (one of the banes of not having a first class ticket, I suppose). I do intend on it though.

Cheers,

Ian

Missing items

Ian,
When you open surveyor on a route that has missing bits it will first give you a message page about missing assets. Select the option of opening the route ignoring the missing items.

Once the route is open you will see some view of the route and have a bar at the top of the screen with the red (exit) button at the extreme left. Next to that are the words "Surveyor Menu". Click on the words and this will open the main surveyor menu. One of the options about half way done the list is "Delete Missing Assets". When you click on that you remove the missing items, but keep in mind this process cannot be undone. So it's a leap of faith that you wont be able to find the assets any where. Also remember that assets deemed broken by the Content Manager will be missing on the route. So you need to fix them or make a concious decision to delete them out of the route.

As I said before when I down loaded the Brisbane South route it had a lot of assets deemed broken by the Content Manager. I have repaired them for my own use and obviously cannot upload again to the DLS. It shame about that because it was a lot of work and the assets (mostly scenery) are one of the good features of the route.

For example there are a number of different NZ houses all of which were rejected by CMP but very easily fixed with the Content Creator program. It's cool because it tells you what the problem is allowing you to fix it quickly.

good luck with you download; I hope some of the assets have been upgraded to TRS2006.

Just for the record I don't have any plans to update the Gold Coast line again; or do the extension from Wynnum to Cleveland as I have never
gone all the way to cleveland by train I don't have any mental pictures too fall back on, and because of the problems I had with the security services when taking pics of stations am not inclined to spend weekends again.

I'm glad to see someone getting into the problems of transfering Maps from 04 t0 06.

When I finish working on the 3 routes under construction I'll try to get away from building and do some driving for a change.

BTW those missing files relating to Williamg are only old versions of his EMU's ( I think) So they won't effect the Maps.

NormP.

For the missing Tunnel & tracks for Bn'e Sth Kuid<85701:3804&110071>Go to http:www.trainzpedro.cz/__then look on left side of page for "Downloads" look down for "Trat"
then down to "Kolejivo" click on it and across the top of the page it opened will be "Tunely [5]"click on it to reveal the Tunnel you want__i think it may have a different number.
But I think the tunnel is correct with a different track ? not sure though.

Norm,
Good to see that you caught this thread.

Thanks for a couple of great train journeys. Being an ex Brisbanite marooned in Sydney, I have fond memories of train trips all over (going back to steam hauled suburbans and steam train trips to Gympie)

To completely upgrade your work to TRS2006 would mean dumping all of the non working assets and/or substituting TRS2006 friendly ones.

Perhaps mistakenly I chose to repair the assets rather than remove them.

Also it was that empty hill at Milton in your layout that inspired me to model the XXXX brewery.

regards,
Peter V
