Blue Comet in Trainz12

I have The Blue Comet for my Trainz10. Now that I have Trainz12 up and running, is there a way I can get the Blue Comet in my Trainz12?

I think the question should be "is there anyway I can avoid bringing the Blue Comet into 12?"

Seriously, yes. Do you still have the installation CDP? Drag it into the 12 CM window to install.

CDP? Not sure what that is, but all I have is my old program (Trainz10) with the Blue Comet.
I was hoping that I could go to a Trainz internet site and with my password re-load it into Trainz.

The CDP is the package Trainz DLC's come in to install into your version.

Try this: Open Trainz 2010 to the content window. Use your filters to find each car and locomotive of the set. When you have them each listed in the main window, right click on one and choose "save to CDP". Direct it to save the file on your desktop. Do this for each asset in the Blue Comet series. If 12 is on the same PC, close 2010 and then open 12 to the content window. Drag each CDP file into the window, and they should install.

I just tried this with 12 and it worked fine. If you don't have 12 on the same PC, you'll have to save those CDPs to an external drive, or E Mail them to yourself, to be installed on a different PC.

If you can locate the Blue Comet ja file in TS2010 copy it and paste it into the ja files of TS12, add the Blue Comet serial number to TS12 and you're good to go.

Yeah, okay..."installation program", I see now! It's been so long since I downloaded it I forgot about all that, sorry.

Thanks for your comments Euphod and KenGreen,
I did as you suggested and each CDP file appeared on the desktop and was dragged to the content window.
Openning Trainz12 I looked in the Railyard and found the items but when clicked on no image appears. Going back to the content window it shows the engines and tenders but with missing dependendies.

Now I'm stuck.

As KenGreen suggested, I looked for the Blue Comet .ja file in Trainz10, but I couldn't find it.

If you look in your built in directory of TS2010 you should see files ending in ja. One of them will be the Blue Comet. COPY that file to your desktop and then open TS12 built in directory and drag the Blue Comet file into that directory.
Then add the Serial No for the Blue Comet to your TS12 installation and set TS12 running, it may have to do a bit of housekeeping first.

I only know that because when I installed TS12 in December I had all four DLC steam sets, SnC and Murchison in TS2010 and when I looked to copy SnC over I noticed the other files so I copied them all over and lo and behold it worked and I saved myself quite a bit of time.

Ken,
Looking under the "TS2010" folder there are the following folders: "bin","Builtin","Extras","Libraries","Scripts","User Data". In the "Builtin" folder the following files are there:"1.JA","2.JA","3.JA","4.JA","5.JA","6.JA","7.JA","8.JA" and dLC-o.JA".

I see nothing that indicates Blue Comet to me.

Thanks for your help.

Gentlemen,
Partial good news.
I was stumbling around the Auran site and I found "Legacy Order History" and I found how I can re-download my Blue Comet.
The good news is I downloaded it and it installed. I went to "railyard" and can see all the cars that came with the blue Comet.
The bad news.....
The Blue and Black locomotives and tenders are there but cannot be seen.

Is there a way I can properly uninstall all the files associated with the Blue Comet from my Trainz12? If I can, I would then try to reinstall it.

Here I am fooling around with this program on a Sunday afternoon when I should be watching the Ryder Cup golf match. :-)

If the file that you are about to remove from TS12 is the DLC-o.ja file then delete this as it's faulty and replace it with a copy if the one in TS2010 which you know is ok.

Ken

Shane,
I did as you suggested and all the files associated with the Blue Comet disappeared as expected.

I re-downloaded and installed the Blue Comet package.

All the coaches, combine and baggage cars came back and can be seen in Railyard.

In the Content Manager:
The "CNJ Blue Comet Heavy and Light" appear with a "Faulty Dependencies" tag and cannot seen in Railyard.
The "CNJ G3s Black Loco, Black Tender, Blue Loco, Blue Tender, P47 and P47Tender" all appear with a "Faulty" and a "Modified" tag and cannot seen in Railyard.

Easiest way is to find it's .ja file from the Built-in folder, remove it, and remove it's key from the Trainz Options box.

Shane

Each DLC installs it's own separate UNinstall program in the Trainz Folder. Click on each one and it will ask you "Do you really want to remove the Blue Comet?" If it's the wrong one, then respond "no" and move on to the next Uninstall program.

Good luck with that missing Engine and Tender problem. I thought I had it bad, but I'm only missing the engines!

I want to thank each of you for your help.

I finally solved the problem by removing both Trainz and the Blue Comet from my computer.
Then, I re-downloaded and re-installed both programs and everything is working perfectly.

Thanks again.

That looks like the next reasonable step for me as well. I'm glad you're all good now.
