Black "Potmarks" On Canada Impressions Route?

Hi guys. I've recently downloaded the SP2-CANADA-IMPRESSIONS route, and throughout parts of the train, there are black "potmarks" in the textures. Almost as if that part of the terrain was missed, but it doesn't display the 'grid' texture. The potmarks paint over but I was wondering what the problem is. Is it my computer? Could it be a bad installation of Trainz?

Hi Dmdrake. I was able to confirm that the same route from an older installation of Trainz on another computer also included the "potmarks". It's definatley the route. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't a graphical error with my PC or Trainz itself.

Thanks.

If this is the CANADA IMPRESSIONS LINE by Neandertal I have extended and modified this route considerably to produce Canada 1930 and have no recollection of any problem with the original textures perhaps you could do a comparison between the two and have a look at the textures in the same area subject to me not having changed them of course

Hello Dave, I think he means this type of black potmark, I believe it was brought up on the old forum, but think it was because the age of the layout, I always re-texture the area involved, it doesn't take long and there's no after effects. However, this is obviously still occuring in older routes on some people's PC's and think it should get a sticky to warn newbies, etc....

Do you mean the following artifact (just above and to the left of the surveyor marker)?

This artifact appears seemingly at random on untextured baseboards. Texturing (except perhaps with black) will not cover it. I have on occasion resorted to covering them with buildings.

I do not believe the problem is related to the age of a route as a few of them appear in my recently released SAR Peterborough to Gladstone layout (screenshot shown above). They appear in TRS2004 and 2006 routes and were a topic of discussion in past forums.

I do not know if all users see them (i.e. are they display related or an artifact of the Auran JET game engine? Do they appear in the same place for all users?). AFAIK none of these questions were ever answered.

I tend to think of them as interesting additions to the landscape.

No, that's not it. It's much darker and texturing does cover it. They're about the same size, though.
