ok, iv tried to reskin the billboard by Laddie (124369:28000), i used Microsoft Photo Editor, but it wont show up in trainz. here is what i did.

  1. copy and paste the folder, into secanry custom folder - scenery folder, and names billboard001
  2. opened billboard picture file and changed the pitcure to 'grand central advert' (JPEG image), and saved changes
  3. open another picture and changed it from 'laddie advertising' to 'Hennahsen advertising', and saved changes.
  4. went into config file to change settings in there (see below) and saved.
  5. went into trainz, and billboard is not there.
original config file:

kuid <kuid:124369:28000>
region "Britain"
type "UK Billboard"
trainz-build 2
category-region-0 "UK"
category-era-0 2000
category-class "BR"
asset-filename "BillboardRS4"
description "UK style Billboard advertising the Audi RS4"
username "Audi RS4 Billboard"
thumbnail
author "Laddie"
organisation ","
contact-email "laddie's email, deleted for privicy"
contact-website "

license ""
kind "scenery"

type "UK Billboard"

category-region-0 "UK"
category-era-0 2000

What version of Trainz are you using? If '04 did you edit the *.texture.txt file to point to your textures?

i didnt rename the picture of the 'car' do i have to? so i didnt think that i would have to change anything else if i kep the file with the advert on the same name

You changed asset-filename. Did you change everything else in the folder with the original name to reflect the new name?

Changing everything is the 'proper' way.

The lazy pragmatic way - my way - is to change nothing but the username and the kuid. Don't even change the name of the image, just change the image itself. The username is the one that shows up in the menus and nothing else in the asset is dependent on it....

Andy :)

i didnt change the image name, like you said just the image, iv tried seeing whats wrong in trainzobjectz, and when i press 'check mesh exists' its says it doesnt...

You have zeroed in on the last part of my post, but missed the first bit.

When you change the asset-filename to 'billboard001' Trainz expects to find a mesh called 'billboard001'. I will cheerfully wager a small pile of coppers that your asset folder still contains a mesh file called 'billboardrs4'.

That is why it can't find the mesh and why the asset is no-show in game.

Change the asset-filename back to what it was originally and as far as I can see the asset should appear....

Andy :)
