best thing about trainz

To me is Iportaling where i can send a train with a load of cargo to anybody that on my list (all over the world) and it comes back empty.
I like the fack that you can do almost anything you want with it.
I like that you have so much stuff you can down load for free.
AND of course all the help you can get right here on this Forum.

Danny beat me to it when he said that this forum is one of the best things about trainz. The help and information that is frely available is amazing.

I dont know which I enjoy more - spending hours crafting a route and getting it just right - or - running the trains through what I have just created.

I have even modelled a route on my own area - That has been a real challenge and one that has been possible only through the imense choices of downloadable content.

Congratulations on joining the friendliest community on the web I have been a Trainzer for many years and never tire of it's capabilities....long may you enjoy it doogerie.

Welcome to our little world, Doogerie!

I used to think making the landscape for a layout was the best thing, but now I really like making 3D scenery objects for everyone to use (for free). It was hard to learn at first, but now it's taking all my time.

There are so many aspects to this hobby that you could end up specializing in, it's fascinating.

Glad you are enjoying the experience Doogerie. Even the most lesser of us in the techy scales here can do things here. I know!

I don't really know where to start on this either.

Trainz is essentially a giant model railroad setup without having to worry about the plaster, glue, and an aching back from crawling around underneath connecting wires. There are no worries either about shorting wires, or reverse loops, and forgetting to flip a track direction switch.

Surveyor to me is the heart of the program, and I think to be the most rewarding. I spend 90% of my time in Surveyor working on my route. Where else in the world can you build a model layout that doesn't break the bank, or require a ton of maintenance.

There's nothing like climbing in the cab of the locomotive and taking a ride in your own created world.

The best thing about Trainz is that if I bought 14,876 freightcars and locos at an average of $20 or more each ... that would total near on to $30,000 in HO gauge.
