Best place to find modern era PAX rolling stock?

Hi All,

While I put just general modern PAX rolling stock in the title, I'm particularly interested in Amtrak. I've "evaluated" (basically downloaded and looked at in railyard and on consists) the offerings on the DLS, and, while there are a few good ones, there aren't enough to make a full consist. I'd also like to find some better quality "superliner" cars as out of the ones I could find on the DLS, only one even had animated wheels (at least in TRS2009). I'm hoping that, like many other things dealing with Trainz, there is somewhere else I can find these in better quality.

In addition to Amtrak, I would like to find some Canadian rolling stock in the same vein... if it exists.

Thanks,
Greg

PS: Out of curiosity, what is the formal name for the end cars with the rounded observation area on the tail? I've tried several search keywords, but have not been able to find any, and the 1-2 I did find through blind luck weren't all that well made.... Thanks.

You may be thinking of the Canadian "Park Model" OB car, and they also are called Observation Lounges.

As it turns out, these superliners come built in with TRS2009 and are the ones I was referring to already. If these are the only ones available, or are the best available, I'll just have to make do with them.

I'm noticing as I develop my asset library that most of the TRS2004 stuff, while looking pretty good and remaining functional, doesn't live well in TRS2009... Meaning, wheels that might otherwise turn don't, and textures which look very nice in example thumbnails look almost cartoony in the game...

Hello Greg,

For Canadian Pacific passenger equipment the best around was created by Austin316Hockey and is built-in to 2009. The entire list of car types is included for the "Canadian". The rounded car at the end of the Canadian was known as a "Park" series observation car.

Unfortunately, there is very little CN passenger equipment available. Most of what is available is already included in 2009 as well. Admittedly, I have not spent a great deal of time looking for CN equipment since my direction is strictly CPR with only enough CN to fill in the gaps so to say at junctions.

Have Fun,

Bricey

I've started to notice a trend here... a lot of whats already in TRS2009 is as good as can be expected from the DLS. This isn't to say there aren't a lot of gems in there, but I've found that about 8-9/10 of what I download with the hopes of getting an upgrade ends up being not worth the time (I'm glad now that I bought the FCT, or else I'd have been wasting huge amounts of time figuring this out). Other sites do have a lot to offer, I've noticed, but mostly in locos... Modern, or at least more modern, passenger assets seem to be lacking compared to freight... I know this probably has to do with the fact that freight consists are much more common than PAX (especially in north america), but it shouldn't mean that they aren't well represented in Trainz. I only wish I had the time to get up to my neck in Gmax / Blender...
