August Issue-Trainz Community News

Greetings,

JohnK has been in ill health and as such it has been difficult to publish.

We had hoped to get it out last Saturday.

I'm taking emergency measure to publish at alternative site ASAP until John gets back.

Sorry to hear that. I hope it is nothing serious. All the best and get better soon John. Your health is much more important than us having to wait a bit longer.

Sorry to hear that John is not well. I hope it's nothing serious. I've had the pleasure of working with him on my two routes.

Thanks for the reply Ian.

Hi guys,

;) Emergency measures are on the way. But above all, we are concerned about John's silence. Hope everything is under control.

The TCN August 2010 issue will available in a while, a zatowhile which is not very long. :p

TCN August 2010 issue is out

The zatowhile has passed and here you are... ;)

The Trainz Community News August 2010 Issue

  • But if you want to be more sophisticated and trendy, not forgetting comfort and easiness, your chance is the on-line version (Adobe is not almighty).

Enjoy this issue (in spite of pages from 8 to 15 ) compiled with all the TCN Crew's devotion and effort (not to mention the writers and contributors who deserve some Nobel Prizes), and, as John writes on the editorial, be merciful and patient with this too-much-sided man's lighter side.

Note: Yes, please, could anybody check if John is OK?

Alberte, not only are you knowledgable about many Trainzy things, but most definitely a comedian at heart. Thanks for your input into the magazine. What a laugh I had as I was also learning. Regards.

Get well soon Johnk,

Hope to see you soon back on the forums very, very soon, your help is always welcome and always appreciated...

Hi guys,

As many of you already know, our serious concerns about John's health were justified.

He's been to hospital for all these past silent days and even though he's back home by now, his health will need some serious repairing (-more serious than fixing false-faulty trainzy assets, à la mode).

Hope he himself can drop a couple of lines here soon. ;)

Even though TCN is seriously touched down by this new situation -John is the real soul of TCN along with Ian (Woodmore)- the latter, with the rest of the contributors and team, will try to keep on struggling to compile new issues of this useful venture, as John wishes and will be happy to see while he goes through his body fixing. Maybe some pacing down or delay can be expected, but we'll try to be out within the month shown on TCN covers.

The unfortunately-not-being-able-to-give-better-news side of Alberte

Edit: I can see him on-line now, replying to this thread. ;)

Thanks for that post Alberte. I was about to go to bed, but realised I must take a pill half an hour before doing so. With time on my hands, I can now reply.

Folks, I was wizzed off to hospital on Sunday morning with all the symptoms on a heart attack. All I managed to grab before I left was a phone with a flat battery. I forgot all about the charger - and my house keys!

Two days in emergency kept them all guessing because the blood tests were negative - no heart attack! After several days of additional tests an Angioplasty, where they feed a tube from your wrist to the heart indicated that I had several severely restricted arteries, too many to repair with "Stents" (little wire tubes that expand to open the artery) to allow unrestricted blood flow.

As such, I have been booked in for a triple or quadruple by-pass around mid to late September. In the meantime, I'm under strict doctor's orders to take it easy and do less sit down work on my computer. Between now and then I have to go through a swag of pre-operation assessments, most of which are done in Townsville (an 8 hour train trip away - each way). There is no heart surgery unit in Cairns.

I returned home today Friday, but due to the tests being taken, I was unable to ever leave my ward or use a telephone. I was wired up and the phone interferes with their equipment. I had tried to contact Ian, but I gave my friends the wrong email address.

Fortunately, and for a completely different reason, I had sent Ian a Proof (unread) copy of the TCN on Saturday night. When I vanished, he and Alberte got together and published that version, then set up a web site where it could be accessed. I'll put the new version up in a day or so, but please don't bother downloading it again, it's hardly worth the effort. The proof reader only found one minor error.

I understand that Alberte and Ian have organised for Alberte to take over the September edition. I'll continue to contribute, but how much I can do will depend on the demands made by the hospital. I'll also work on finding new contributors and writing a tutorial or two. Most importantly however, it will allow me to concentrate on the web site we're constantly ranting about :)

Thanks everyone for your good wishes and many thanks to Joe Falco for starting this thread.

Please support Alberte by reading the TCN and sharing it with your mates.

John

Take Care John.
Cheers Mick.

Glad to hear from you John. We were all concerned about your condition. I would like to offer my services as a contributor to the TCN and the Trainz Resources Directory if needed. Let me know. Take care, and get better soon.

Regards, Joe

Glad to hear that things are'nt that bad John. Modern surgery works wonders and provided you do as you are told, life will be good again. Although I have not needed a bypass I have had a heart attack several years ago. Following advice with exercise, diet and sensible living, apart from taking the tablets and carrying a canister of nitroglycerine in my pocket, life at 74 continues as normal.

All the best.

;) We take your word, Joe. Thank you.

Hiya John,

just spotted your post.

Very sorry to read about your ill health mate.

Catch you on the forums once you have had a successful operation and you are fully recovered. :)

Take care now John.

Best wishes,
Mike.

Thanks guys,

I'll still be here to annoy you, but I've had to back away from a lot of other Trainz Community work. I'm restricting my computer hours considerably, but I don't consider all my Trainz stuff hard work. Fortunately a few people had stepped forward to help just before my first bout of Angina so things may improve on that front.

If I disappear for a while, it simply means that' I've been dragged off to hospital for more tests. The pills I'm on should give me all the comfort I need until the operation.

The thing is, I didn't have a heart attack, and I'm still okay.

Thanks again.

John
