Good Luck. I don't know your situation Details, but if you're entirely computerless, there are places around that can help you get a working one free. It won't be TS12 capable, but itd be a working computer.

I don't know for anyone else, but to me, going back to '06 after '12 would be like going back to the Farm after living in Paris.... Probably not gonna happen unless I'm really desperate....

My pc's motherboard was fried from an electric surge and so was the gpu.I have no money to replace either one.as .my laptop it cant play trainz anymore as the hdd in it doesn't have the right drivers in it and can barely run sketch7 without crashing. There is just no way around it. I have a family now and the money needs to go towards food and bills. I didn't want to have it go this way but it did.

Sorry to hear this, and it's quite understandable having been in that situation before.

You might want to consider replacing the parts piecemeal. You may not have a working PC all at once, but you can get CPU and motherboard combination one month, and then a new video card another month or two down the road. Once you get your income tax return refund in April, which I'm assuming you'll get because you have a family, you can apply some of those funds towards your new machine.

I wish that would happen. I was told by my wife"I'll be getting the parts for the pc if she has to drag me there to get them." So we will see what happens...that's if I get the parts I need to make my dream build or one that barely meets the expectations for T:ANE.

Try looking at Tigerdirect for a barebones kit. There are a lot of decent systems going for cheap. Post here what you'd like and people will tell you what they think. You'll usually need to upgrade the power supplies, but you can usually do that once you've put everything in your shopping cart by deleting the one offered with the kit and adding a more powerful PSU, paying only the price difference.

I see an Fx-6300 system going for $289 right now minus video card. Not the best on the market, but it's a pretty good start.

Give me 2 hours to find the list. I did find an Asus GeForce GTX 970 for $330. Pretty much what I want as a budget graphics card. The hitch, it's a pick-up for the store only.hard with no microcenter near me.

Mr inprr,

May I suggest one of these or something like it at the top of your list:

If you get surges and brownouts, you may end up sacrificing your new PC to the same goblin as ate the last one.

Yes! This is an excellent recommendation. These have saved more than one computer for me over the years. Don't substitute a surge protected power strip for one either, they're not the same.

That's where I got my laptop. I must note that it has enough power to handle Railroad Tycoon 3, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 with both expansion packs, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 with both expansion packs, and both Trainz 2010 and Trainz 12, and still have some room to spare. Right now I have Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 with both expansion packs, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 with both expansion packs, and Trainz 12 installed. I also had Railroad Tycoon 3 installed, but when I went to add some third-party content, it started screwing up. So I uninstalled it.
