Articulated units - Getting them to be placed as one unit

I have seen this discussed but cannot find the thread,
My articulated units - for example the SAR 406 and the NSWGR 60 Garrats - are placed as 3 single units , how can I get them so I can place them on the line as one unit please. As it is now I have to select each unit and then they combine as I place them.
Thanks for helping.

Thanks Dermmy :) is there no other way from within railyard for example , sometimes the locomotives and tenders are so far apart and one battles to find them,
or might the best way then be to have stock yards set up with all the different assets like rails , buildings , ascessories and so on ? How do you guys do it ?

I'm confused, Andy is right. The easiest way to set up units like that is to place them on the track and then save them as a consist. You'll only have to do it once, and it will remain in your list of consists for future use, and I'm pretty sure you can make as many different combinations as you can think up names for.

Or am I misunderstanding you?

Hi Euphod - I understand what you guys are saying thaks , it is just that some assets are not together in railyard and in the inventories in game , which makes one scroll all over the place at times, there are thousands of assets to choose from ,some of which are all over , so I ask whether there is not a better way of grouping types to types.Often when dl new stuff it ends up somewhere else not with its own kind , or am I confused...? I admit that I have not been using the consist feature as much as I could have to make it easier with rolling stock and locos.

You could Open for edit in explorer in CMP, and just change the user name, say put "Garrett" at the start, on each asset, save config.txt, and commit.

JJanmarine3....i know what you mean. I have wished this same thing for a long time now. What i do when i want a reefer for example is click the little button at the top right hand corner of the "search window" which opens a box on the left of your screen (Content Search Filter). I then type within this box the word REEFER (for example) and it brings up all the reefers i have available. Another example is I download every caboose i can find and i use them all. I dont care what country they are built in or built for. To find the list i type CABOOSE in this box on the left of my screen and they all pop up on the right side. When your done with the box on the left always CLEAR it so that the box on the right list everything again. I hope im making enough sense here to get my idea across to you.
Good luck anyway.

Harold
