Any free London Underground maps for ts2010?

Gee, I went to Google, typed in London underground map and was inundated with suitable candidates. Its not hard.

I think he means route pware not map. If I remember rightly, there's a couple of incomplete LU routes on the DLS, but of single lines and not the entire Tube system.

So it's a case of you'll have to make your own route if you want to experience the Tube in Trainz sadly.

There is a route called London RV and it has some of the tube as well as a lot of the London Rail system

Wo, someones having a bad hair day today. :p
Unfortunately there isn't any LU routes for Trainz that are really erm..... well you know what I mean.
However, if you head on over to the Auran shop they do have a copy of the Circle line + Hammersmith line called World Of Subways 3, I can say that it is very good.

Up to a point... Some of the operational aspects and physics attributes of the trains leave a little bit to be desired, but if you approach it as a "game" rather than a serious simulation then the OP may get something out of it.

Doing an LU route is a challenge in all of the sims, particularly deep level tubes where you have to work under the terrain. It was done in MSTS for the District line and I think the same team is working on a version for Railworks. The particular challenge in Trainz even for a cut and cover route is trying to do straight tunnels, unless you use the dighole method.

This was precisely what I had to do when experimenting with my Paris Metro project. I made the cut-and-cover stations at ground level, lowered them to the depth I wanted, used a digholde where the sub-surface track began to come to the surface, and created a linking tunnel entrance including planes to conceal the dighole and cutting sides to make vertical walls for the slope up/down. The same principle could be applied to the London Underground.

One problem I found was that with the method of adding track to conventional tunnels, the conductor rail was always on the same side, which was wrong for one track. The solution was to use half-tunnels with fixed sections of tunnel as way gauges to ensure correct alignment.

If this is of interest, look for my 'Metro test and demo' route (TRS2004) which will show how this all works - of course, you will also need to download my Metro stations, tunnels, and other bits and pieces! And don't expect absolutely authentic stations and tunnels - these are more in the nature of representations. KUID:275817:2324073 (1359 downloads to date).

I recently watched a documentary on the world's subway systems and the method you described to create your Paris Metro stations was exactly the method the engineers used to construct the real Paris Metro stations.

The stations were actually built on the surface and encased in a waterproof iron jacket - like the hull of a ship. They were then lowered into position by excavating the water logged soil out from under them. The presence of the River Seine was the reason for this method of construction. The stations had to be placed below the level of the water table from the river which would have made conventional construction methods impossible.

Maybe I will have a play round, see what I can come up with even if it's only a short demo.

Thanks for this information. I had not come across this before, despite considerable research - it's good to know that I followed the prototype (for once!) Fortunately, I did not have the water problem.

Deano, does your WOS 3 run properly? The mouse is so jerky on mine that it is really hard to play. I've asked on their forum amd they don't seem to have an answer. No amount of downward adjustment of the settings fixes the problem.

I agree that visually it is very good, but it should be pointed out that there are no route building or editing possibilities.

I have been working on my Widened Lines route for ages now, and it is still far from finished. I was not happy with any existing tunnels in Trainz and had to make my own, and all of the retaining walls with arches as well. But my next project is to finish it. I'm not quite following the comment about straight tunnels being difficult to do, it was the curves that I found more difficult. I made the tunnels in 16m,4m and 2m spline lengths in order to get decent curves. I was able to include the lineside cables into the tunnel mesh which made things easier.

Andi's R-Stock and Metrovoc Loco, with Paulz Trainz Metropolitan Coaches, now it looks like something!

Nice screenshots Mick. I did have a little dabble yesterday, thinking about maybe re-inventing the Northern Heights from Bushey Heath through Edgware to Finchley (assuming no one else has done it). That built in track is quite good, though the sleeper textures are a tad dark.

Thanks, glad you like them.
I have been making the Finsbury Park to Ally Pally line ever since I got my copy of UTC. It would certainly be great to be able to extend that from Highgate all the way to Bushey Heath!

I know, this is the Trainz forums, not the WOS3 forums

Hi MIck.
Great shots and some good looking work there, well done. :D
As for the WOS mouse movement it was a little sensitive at first but I dropped the slider in settings back a bit and it's not too bad now once you get used to it. Been getting hours of play on it.
