Any Airport Goodies Recommendations?

Hi All,


I'm currently in the process of building a route and at this moment, I am working on the part with an international airport. I have some items for the airport, but I'd like to know if there were any extra items I might have missed. Could people be so kind as to recommend some members creations/KUIDS as I'd like to have the broadest selection to choose from when placing objects and what not.

As well, I was wondering if anyone knew of a suitable concrete taxiway texture. The DLS is not working for me at the moment :'( and some people might have a few KUIDS in mind. The best one I can find right now is actually a winter texture...! :hehe:

Hi Gisa..............What do you have so far? I have a partial listing that I started under INDUSTRYAIR, a category I threw together for airport related items that I occasionally stumble over while looking over the DLS. I might have found something that may escape someone.:wave:

Thanks for the reply! The stuff I know for sure that I do have is by MINITRIX and some of the TAC stuff, but that's about it. I'm sure there's more but they might be named differently or named in a language I can't read. :hehe: Could you be so kind as to show us the list? It will come in handy not only for me, but for others who wish to build an airport in their route(s) and need to know where to find things.

In particular, I could use another terminal, some 747's (I only know of two at the moment), a taxiway texture (there is a block item that could be used for a taxiway, but that's really only good for a rural airport (so I figure I could save polygons by going with a simple concrete type texture, like in this picture) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxiway (second picture with the light)

I have a texture I noticed in Neilsmith's UMR route that can give the *blocks* of a taxiway near the actual airport itself, but I was looking for an actual smoothed out concrete texture if that makes any sense...

Some BIG hangars, fuel trucks, snowplows, etc...

Hello Gisa............ This is part of the listing that I am working on. The second column is the actual name of the object as named by the creator. I dont use kuid numbers. Any notes at the end in small letters is simply a note to me as a reminder. It let's me know if I would be interested when there are a number of items with similar descriptions.

There are other items such as planes but a search finds them directly. I only identify those that I wish to remember later. As you have stated there are some fine examples of various items in DLS, but if they are not my native language of English, I cant find them. Fortunately, the AIRPORT section seems to be mostly in English. I have some runway examples, but I think I have them under MISCROADS. I will check. You probably have these, but I hope this helps.:wave:

Also check WWW.BIGSKY.DE/AIRPORT/.........Atleast that is what I have written down. they have runways, taxiways, aprons, buildings, and accessories.

Hello Gisa.......

If you dont necessarily want true to life prototypical, try using one of the many SPORTS STADIUMS/ ARENAS, and LOWERING them to use as the main terminal. Then use any of the true terminals as annexes or wings or whatever they are called. I did some for fun and creativity. I dont know GMAX or its' clones at all. If done just right, you are now officially, an ARCHITECT !!!!!!!!!!!!:hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

I have searched ALL CATEGORIES, but dont see it. Probably explains why it took me so long to find it. Be back in a minute or two........

It appears that I did not get it on the DLS. I Googled the kuid number and got one hit. Came from MAINE CENTRAL...Looks to be a built-in object on one of their layouts. I am not familiar with the layout, and it is not listed in my SURVEYOR. The name of the layout is MAINE CENTRAL ULTIMATE EDITION 2, with a map kuid of 128675:181026. I have no idea where I got it!!!!!!!

I am not computer literate, but if there is a way for me to email it, I would be more than happy to. JUST GIVE ME BLOW BY BLOW DIRECTIONS.

I used Windows XP's search function to search for the string "67906", and got 6 hits. But they are the 6 legitimate kuids by SNOWSIGNAL. So 67906 must not be in the file name. Any ideas of where or how to look for this tractor would be well appreciated. My Surveyor shows it because of the SHOWKUIDS parameter. And the GOOGLE search shows both the PROPER NAME and the KUID NUMBER to be accurate. How I got it is a mystery to me. But I do have it!!! It is a BLUE airport tractor. Computers are new to me. Heck I have never had a cell phone, or an IPOD!!!!!!!

I see a listing for it at TARL.TRAINZ.WS, the Trainz Asset Repair Library. I am not a member, so I could not go further. What I did was search Google on "67906 31001 airport", without the quotes. I also DID NOT put a colon between the two halves of the kuid number. Keeping the colon inserted got me nowhere.

I have seen the website, but know nothing about it.

The only thing I could think of is that it was made in a beta or as a beta and then no longer supported or uploaded. :/ It could have been removed at the authors choice...still, that sounds very strange to me.

At the risk of suggesting something stupid, I do believe that there is a line in the trainz config file that will show you an items kuid when you select it:

- showkuids

I assume you already have it in the config file...and I also assume it is showing you that weird KUID. You could try to find it via T.O. and take a peek at the config file to see who made it...

Otherwise, I'm as stumped as you are...

Hi Gisa...........This is an absolutely wild guess, since I dont completely understand Trainz. The Maine Central site says that it is a 3rd party asset included with their layout, which IS ON THE DLS. Could I have previously downloaded the Maine Central route some time ago, and deleted it? Would that have left the tractor in my asset base? But still, the darn kuid is NOT IN MY KUID LISTING. If it is in my kuid listing, it is listed under something other than its' number or its' name. I do see entries for SNOWSIGNAL, 6 of them, but none are this one.

I dont understand how downloading a layout, and then deleting it, affects the assets that were contained in the layout. This is assuming that the asset does not appear in any other layout. I am willing to bet that if you download the layout, you will get the tractor. TARL also says that SNOWSIGNAL made it.

Something else that is strange. I created a blank new layout with one board, added track and a locomotive, and then added the AIRPORT TRACTOR. I then opened the layout, went to the top of the screen and clicked FIND OBJECT, ensuring that ALL is selected. I am looking at the tractor, but AIRPORT TRACTOR is not on the list!!! Nothing is one the list but the locomotive. There is something very strange about the tractor.

Anywho, Maine Central says that it exists, TARL says it exists, and I have it. It MUST have come in that layout.:hehe: Nothing else was found via Google, but Google does not always dig deep into a web-site document listing.

Stranger and stranger still...

Perhaps you could mail the creator of that route, or the creator of that item. I wonder if anyone else has that item?

If you can't find it, life will go on but man...what a strange riddle!
