Amtrak Train Question

Hello
I have been collecting Amtrak cars for awhile and I started thinking what kind of train can I assemble after a few more cars.
I have the following so Far
Walthers Amtrak MHC in Phase 3
Walthers Amtrak Viewliner Phase 4
2x Walthers Amtrak Amfleet coaches Phase 4
Walthers Amtrak Amfleet Cafe/Lounge Phase 4

My question is, what cars would I need to make this a real Amtrak train. What train would that be?
What kind of motive power pulled it.

And for my next train for Amtrak, what is the most diverse train Amtrak ran in Phase 3 (equipment wise)

With another Amfleet coach, a heritage diner, a baggage car (not sure which kind), a heritage dorm car, and two P42's, you could have the Crescent (New York-New Orleans by way of Philly, Washington DC, Atlanta, Yours Truly, and Meridian; trains 19 and 20).

well with another coach and an 2 engines you can make the wolveriene (currently running: p42,hor coach, hor coach, hor coach, amcaf, p42; the coaches are sometimes traded out for amfleets or herritage cars as well as one of the p42s getting traded for a cabagge) with 1 engine you can make the Pere Maquette which is virtually the same as the Wolveriene minus a coach and a p42.

But basically with your consist there isn't much you can do that uses every single one of your cars. almost all the MHCs run from chicago westward and only on long dist. If you wish to use the majority of them I would invest in an engine and a herritage dinner at the least generally if there is a sleeper (viewliner) then there is a dinner; I would also look into getting a couple more coaches (doesn't have to be amcans) and atleast one more viewliner; and possibly a baggage (although a cabagge would work too).

i have at least one real train, and one that I dont think exists, but who knows

First set

1 1700 Series Baggage, 1 Transitation sleeper, 2 Sleepers, 1 Diner, 1 Sightseer lounge, 4 coaches

second set

1 1700 series baggage (same car), 3 Viewliner Sleepers, 1 Amfleet lounge, 4 amfleet coaches....I also sometimes add in a 85 foot walthers phase III vista dome car, or a Bahcmann (I hate this car however, does not like my clubs corners) Phase III Fulldome car. I also besides those two, I add a Kato Amtrak Track Inspection car to the end now and then

1st set: if you put the baggage on the end (sometimes its at the front) you should have the Empire Builder, I believe (been along day)

with a transtslep you can make your 2 sets one by the way...

possibly one of the silver service trains. I'm not from that area so I'm not sure what their consists fully are, i have an idea but am not certain.

I don't think that's quite it, IIRC.

I think it went:

P42
P42
P42
Baggage (1200/1300 series)
Transition Sleeper
Sleeper
Sleeper
Diner
Coach
Sightseer Lounge
Sleeper
Coach
Coach (between Chicago and St. Paul)

I know there's 14 cars after St. Paul (HBD: 62 axles-6axles--private car--=56 axles/4axles per car/loco=14 cars including locos), so I'm missing 2.

When I get home, I can get to the roster of the cars on the train I got while on my way to/from Whitefish.

The actual number of coaches and sleepers on all Amtrak trains vary by the way depending on the time of year (such as trains around x-mas are longer than ones in September) so the # of coaches and sleepers doesn't matter much. the 6 times I've taken the EB (out of which I can only remember the consist: 2) it had:
P42
P42
Translep
sleep
sleep
dine
SSL
CBag
Coach
CBag
Coach (can't remember which exactly, proll regular)

Amtrak tries to keep this train fairly eaven because after Spokane, WA it gets spit into 2 halves. when I went to Portland, OR (mid summer, not peak) the consist was:
P42
coach
SSL
Sleep

It looks like the train is:

P42
P42
1700 series baggage
Heritage Dorm?
Viewliner
Viewliner
Heritage Diner
Amfleet Cafe/lounge
Amfleet Coach
Amfleet Coach
Amfleet Coach

So, that means you'd need:
P42
P42
1700 series baggage
Heritage Dorm?
Viewliner
Heritage Diner
and Amfleet coach.

Oh, and for anyone interested, the Empire Builder runs as follows during Peak Season:

P42
P42
P42
1100/1200 series baggage (two-door)
Trans-Sleeper
Sleeper
Sleeper
Diner
Coach
Coach
Lounge
Coach
Coach
Sleeper
Coach (between Chicago and St. Paul)

but on my way back, I guess they were having maintenance issues because they subbed in an Amfleet coach between the baggage and trans-sleeper.

EDIT: No offense, but you might want to check the size of your sig to make sure it's CoC compliant.

You could easily make the Cardinal (NY to Chicago)> You might need one more amfleet coach and thats it. For engines u'd probably need an AEM-7, HHP-8, or an E60, between NY and DC. From DC to Chicago u'd need a P42DC (AMD-103). tHAT would only apply to today's consist because, they have been slimming it down alot recently, you couldn't use this for like '04 or something. It doesn't even have a dining car on it anymore, just a amfleet cafe. I have alist of all Amtrak Consists for each train, for each year. Like if you want Lake Shore Limited for 1982, you just look it up on the list. If anyone wants it (you included obviously) I'll send it, because it's too long to post.
