Amtrak HO scale Superliner Help!

Klinger

The Chicago CTA guy
Well, call me old fashioned, but I HATE the new Walthers Superliner cars. That plated finish is blinding, and the interiors, while nice, are overall unnessesory. I have a complete set (10 cars) of Superliner cars from the old style, no interiors, no fancy exterior. Just simple, basic, cheap rolling stock.

However, over the last 6 years, they have become pretty beat up, and its to the point that I need to replace several of them, or find parts. The main part that is broken on the 3 that need replacing the most is the bolster support that mounts to the car body and extends down to the truck. It was "removed" to help the turning radius....I might add it also failed to track better on sharp radius (my clubs trackwork leaves much to be desired).

But times are different now, I'm working on building my own club layout with a longtime friend, and former club member, our goal is an all DCC layout with 36" curves. So in order to plan for this, I'm trying to track down a few old Superliner II or I cars, the old Walthers style, to replace the most damaged ones. I need a Sleeper, Dining Car, and Transition Sleeper. Either Phase III or IV, that does not matter to me. I've searched Ebay, but its usually hit or miss, so I need a more reliable source. Heck, maybe if someone here has a set stashed in their basement they never use, I'd be intersted. But overall I am looking for a shop or something that may still carry these cars.

I already have my Viewliner Train fixed and updated, since Amfleets have not been "updated" to a level a realism that, while nice, prices most people out of ever buying them, which I why I hate the new plated cars.

Would I like to have a 10 Car set of plated, sure, for $25 a car like it used to be.....

Thanks for any help tracking a few down!
