American Orient Express

I was recently looking at the American Orient Express website, and the price list was from 2008. My question - Is the American Orient Express still running???

No, it was sold to Phil Anschutz and parked in Denver at the 10th street yard. I pass by every few weeks. It looks like they are stripping down the cars for painting, sanding the exterior's and such, but no painting has actually been done.

Several of the old Ski Train cars are also at the 10th street yard, the one's not sold to Canada. Also some of the Orient Express backup cars that were not in service have also started to arrive as well.

No idea what the plan for them is.

sadly it is not going to happen. Klinger, what happened to the plan of bringing back the Ski train?

Amtrak refused to provide crews for the Ski Train, so the SLRG were forced to refund some 13,000 tickets, and return their equipment to Alamosa.

They may or may not try again next year, it depends on if Amtrak is willing to sign an agreement or not.
