Hi all

I have just had an update from version 12.1 to 12.4 for my AMD card which i believe is a Phenom X4 (so says the sticker on the front of the PC tower...!) My trainz world now has gone ga-ga! its like someone broke a glitter ball all over it!

I am trying to revert to the previous version of the graphics update but am not QUITE the technically minded- im not a total dunce - but want to make sure i get it right,,,,, any other sufferers out there and any solutions?? Please help!!

I'l try...

The first thing, I need is such things as
OS: Windows XP or Vista or 7 32bit or 64bits?
CPU: AMD PhenomX4 (which one?)
GPU: ? (Maybe it has failed)
RAM: ? (Is never wrong to know)
I think, this http://www.piriform.com/speccy will help you.
Have you downloded the software (I think the drivers are included) from AMD or from anywhere else?
Is your GPU supported?
Does this happen on all maps?

By "glitter ball", do you mean items have random all over them, but you can still make out the shape? This is a known issue with some nVidia cards, and the trick is to turn off Hardware Compression in CMP's Settings menu and open the affected assets and recommit. Try this with a few assets known to be affected by this and see if it works before doing this with everything.

Ok, TramDU1214....

OS; Windows 7 64 bit
CPU: AMD phenom 9650 Quad-core 2.30 Ghz
Ram 4.00GB
GPU:what IS a GPU?!

as i look it says "your windows experience needs refreshing" and i click and its downloading some 3d stuff (?!) and "tuning windows media decoding". so it might be fixing itself??! I will log out and log in again and see if anything has changed!!

Thanks for your help so far!!

The landscape has triangles missing, and houses and rails have long straight edges flying off them. The locomotives look like they are falling apart!! (realistic for 1980s british rail i know..)

Hi Peter,

As the crucial part is your graphics card, I'd advise you use my PC Information Application to get the required information.

See my blog entry at http://forums.auran.com/trainz/entry.php?140-Tutorial-How-to-use-my-PC-Information-Application for information about how to get hold of the tool, as well as how to use it.

If you get stuck, reply to this post, and I can guide you on how to use it.

OK. If you can, can you provide a screenshot of the problem? To post screenshots on this forum, you will need to upload the screenshot to a site like HostThenPost,Imageshack,Photobucket or similar, then copy the IMG code given into a post. To actually take the screenshot, it's the Print Screen key, which will save the screenshot to <trainz installation folder>/Userdata/screenshots.

EDIT: Maximum screenshot size in this forum is 800 x 600.
