Amazon DLC Require Amazon Trainz?

Hello all i have a Amazon Gift card and saw some Trainz DLC on Amazon. Does it require the Amazon Verison of Trainz or can you use it with a N3V/DVD copy?

It depends on the build number. I think I've read that amazon has a different build to the N3V version of Trainz, so I would assume that the Amazon DLC would only run on Amazon versions of Trainz.

Maybe buy some RWS books instead. :) Or TBRS. You know, by Simierski?

Oh, and you'd better make that link on your website link to my new one! People might get confused. Make sure you replace the banner too.

And whose website is our little project going to be hosted on?

It's not the amazon version of trainz, amazon sell the steam effort and the just trains one. The steam/amazon DLC will be ok if you have a steam version of trainz, not the n3v version, not yet anyway. See Ed's post below, it will, he's done it.

I bought a few DLC's from a vendor on E Bay, they work fine with N3V's version of Trainz. Just to let you know.

Wait... WHAT??? Amazon sells the Steam version of Trainz??? No-one ever told me this before!!!! Well, at least I got TS12 from N3v... (Ii think, actually my father bought it for me)...

As far as I am aware, with the exception of Steam, DLC content can be bought from anywhere that sells it and be used with the N3V version of Trainz.

Depends on the DLC. If it is Murchison 2, Settle&Carlisle or Classic Cabon City the Steam versions will install as add-ons to the Steam version of TS10, even if you don't have TS10. You can then move the .ja files to your Steam/N3V TS12 Builtin folder. If it is Duchess or Blue Comet, on the other hand, they will need a Steam version of Trainz to install into.

Actually Nickie, I copied the .ja files and entered the serials from Steam dls of Duchess and Blue Comet into Auran versions of 2009 and 2010 with no trouble. They show up and work in game with no problems.

Ken, I know you can copy the .ja files of Steam Duchess and Blue Comet into N3V versions of Trainz; I did that myself. But, can you install Steam Duchess and Blue Comet without having a Steam version of Trainz to install them into in the first place? I don't think so, and that's what I meant - I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough about this. You need to buy and install a Steam version of Trainz in order to install Steam Duchess or Blue Comet before copying to a N3V version of Trainz. At least, that's my understanding.

I bought the Blue Comet and Settle & Carlisle DLCs from Amazon about a year and a half ago when they had them discounted.
I've installed them into Auran bought copies of both TS2010 and TS12 without issues.
If I recall correctly, I checked and the build number for S&C as supplied was the same as the patched Auran version.

I misunderstood you, Nickie, and you are quite right - I do in fact have Steam as well as Auran (Bought Steam, wised up, bought Auran), which, of course, is why I was able to. I thought you meant the Steam Duchess was completely incompatible with Auran, which, on re-reading you didn't mean at all. Apologies.
