Am I spamming you???

Narrow gauge or nothing
Hi all,
Listen, I haven't got a clue as to how my e-mail address has been tagged by these sorry suckers but, if you are getting spam from me, PLEASE delete me from your e-mail address mailing list.

It isn't me that's doing it. My Yahoo account has somehow been cracked and I am not using that addy anymore.

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience.

Rick

Rick,
how many different accounts do you have with trainz. This is the third one tonight under seperate user names.

I have 3 accounts. One for 2006 and two for 2004. One of which I lost in a fire so replaced it with another one.
I didn't know I could use the same information on a new game.

If you guys are getting spammed from my Yahoo account. PLEASE delete me from your mailing list.

Again, I'm sorry...

Rick:

If it is your account that is spamming everyone, then YOU have to delete them from YOUR mailing list, not the other way around. I can have you in my mailing list until the cows come home, but I won't get a bit of spam from you unless you have my email address.

PS: According to the COC, a person can have multiple accounts but ONLY if they are NOT used to create confusion or spread discontent in the forum. So he's okay to go.

Bill,
Done! I've removed all contacts from my Yahoo account. Maybe all this will go away, now.

Thanks,

Hi Rick,

Most likely, they have your email address from somewhere, and are forging the return headers on the mail they are sending. That way, it looks like it's coming from you, but it really isn't.

Curtis

Curtis is probably right, Rick. Somewhere, somebody, has your email address in their own spamming address book and uses it as a "return" address when they send out spam. It's happened to me also. AT&T (SBCGlobal) got on my case once but I proved I hadn't sent out 2400 emails in one day because I was on a cruise at the time. The IP address of my supposedly spam emails wasn't owned by the AT&T domain either. It's no big deal actually unless your friends are upset by it.

I have Hotmail and Gmail accounts but I NEVER use the web interface to create/send/receive emails. I use Thunderbird all the time. THis way, I never have any emails in my on-line address book.

Bill

change your passwords for the accounts you can access.... If you look at your address book you may find they a now fill of hundreds of emails you do not now. Delete them all well apart from ones you know.
