Alternative use of rock walls

That looks like the wireframe view (F9 or the grid icon on the right of the surveyor menu.

I think that the rockwall goes from the level of the track to the level of the terrain, thus causing this interesting second usage.
 
Is this, at last, a way of getting cuttings less than 10 metres/1 grid square wide? Can we use (or make) a variety of types for say bare rock cuttings, different coloured dressed stone, earth banks?...
 
Yes, to gain access to the underworld - so to say - a 1x1 Dighole from DLS is used. Then I've stuffed the gap with hedges and a concrete wall. A surface spline can also be used to hide the ragged edge between surface and walls. So it doesn't have to follow the grid-lines. In the Euro Track version of the rock wall there is even room enough for signals.
