Alternate Methods...

Well, it's not then, as Waterloo & City Line (or whatever name it is nooow!), is in London. And I'm not sure, but I think the video may have been posted here already.

Now I know how railcars get all the shunt damage from the loader/unloader.:hehe:
In South Phila Greenwich Yard there was a shunt engine track that ran perpendicular to the taconite loader curve track. The shunt engine had a hydraulic tong that lowered in between railcars, and was used to push the drafts of Gennies under the iron ore loader. Ladders and Handholds were continually being ripped off by the shunt engine tong, and the steel rods were often protruding, ready to spear any employees standing closeby.

The dish shaped polling pockets on US railcar ends were originaly for polling cars, or poling locos. These polling cars were very dangerous and were outlawed due to damage and injuries.

Not very effective because it derailed the gondola. You can see it bouncing along the sleepers from 00:52 to 1:03. Interesting though.

Wasn't derailed. The video was sped up to 1.5x or 2x speed. What looked like bouncing was just the control arm jerking the 'tilt' axis of the wagon - if that makes sense?

Wouldn't want to attempt that again if the wagons were loaded. Had enough of a struggle with empties.
