ajs stations

Hi!
does anyone know if the AJS Stations 1x50s, 1x110s etc, are available suited to TS12? I have used them extensively in TS2009 and TS2010. The Content Managers show they have errors - missing textures - but they still work in TS2009 and TS2010. I downloaded them from the DLS into TS12, and they show the textures are missing, but they do not work this time.

Is there anything similar which does work in TS12?

Thanks

Graham

Hi Grahm,

Are the textures actually missing or broken. Have a look at the asset with PEV's Mesh Viewer. You could also try just running it through PM2IM and see if that fixes the problem, which is what I do rather than play around with the mesh.

John

I've just been testing out AJS 1x110s in TR12 and it seems to be working fine - but I could never get it to work correctly in TR2010. Maybe more testing will reveal some problems but so far it looks good.

Peter Ware

The missing texture issue will only occur for the built-in stations if they are opened for edit and recomitted. For other stations you can fix the texture issue with AssetX or with PEV's texture tool.

One or two of the larger stations have missing attachment points, here you can simply delete the corresponding reference in config.txt. This will not affect operation. Other than that and as far as I am aware they should all be working up to TS2010. I don't have TS2012.

I do intend to update but don't hold your breath.

While it's the subject of AJS stations, is there a way of adjusting the trigger radius (or is it done through the properties box)?

Reason I'm asking is that I have some faster trains that call at said stations (mainly the Invisible Station 4T,6T and 8T varieties), but as it is a 125mph mainline, I cannot use speed signs to slow them down.

The problem is that they are overshooting the station (sometimes by some length).

Shane

Hi Shane, I had a similar problem back in TRS2006. The loco physics were pathetic and I got a lot of overshooting. My solution was to place a track mark at the end of each platform and add the command "drive to trackmark xx" prior to the station command.
The trains don't stop at the trackmark as long as you don't have a wait command following it, but they slow down to a crawl as they pass it. The train will then obey the call at station command in a civilized manner.
Exactly how far from the station end you place the TM is a matter of trial and error.

Cheers

I will have a look, but I am trying to minimise the commands used, as it seems to be affecting Trainz performance on my machine.

Thankyou for the suggestion anyway.

I think this will be one for andi06, as it's his content.

Shane

I think this will be one for andi06, as it's his content.

Even if the reach of the triggers could be extended to pick up trains approaching at high speed, the station still couldn't handle this because it would have no knowledge of the intentions or schedule of individual trains.

Nawlin's suggestion seems to work.

Fair enough - I will have a look.

Shane

EDIT: The reason I'm interested in minimising the commands is because it's a WCML station (Milton Keynes Central), and any delays to the train will impact fast and stopping trains behind it.

Shane,
What version/kuid of the WCML are you using, so I can have a look at it and see what might cause this.
I have put AJS stations along most of the ECML and they work perfect with my trains, in fact every route I have made or upgraded uses AJS stations of all the different varieties with no problems.
Unless of course this is just an 09 only problem.

It may be - it's a custom version I have created, so I may have problems sending you a copy.

I will try sending you a CDP copy, but be aware it is only in basic form at the moment, and there are some payware dependencies. (Mostly from Railwaves, and the Class 92 from eldavo)

I think it may be a 09 problem, as I am also having several other issues I did not get in 06.

Shane

EDIT: Deano5, I have sent you a PM.

ajs stations and TS12

Hi everyone,
Just returning to my original problem, as an experiment I have deleted the AJS stations in question (1x50s, etc) from my TS12 and downloaded them again from the DLS. The Content Manager shows the same faults, copied here as follows:

Warning: This asset uses an obsolete trainz-build number.Trainz-build numbers below 2.7 are no longer supported.

Error: Texture 'red.texture' is missing or could not beloaded for mesh 'pstart1.im'.

Error: Texture 'red.texture' is missing or could not be loadedfor mesh 'pend1.im'.

Warning: Missing or invalid selection for tag 'category-era'in 'industry'.

The first and last warning I can correct by editing, but I am stuck with the missing textures.

This is typical of what the AJS stations were showing earlier.

John, where might I find PM2IM to try?

Thanks

Graham

I'm almost certain there's an AJS station (the 110 one) included in TS12 as part of the built in content, along with some of Andi's platform splines (the prewar and postwar ones). I managed to place the station and connect track/platforms to it without any dire warnings, albeit I'm not looking for trouble!

ajs stations and TS12

Graham here again!
I have unistalled TS12, cleared the 'local' file, and re-installed. (Fortunately as yet I had put very little 'local' material on.)

I can confirm that AJS station 1x110s is built-in and works fine. Following what Andi06 said (in a thread above) I will leave well alone and not try to edit.

I then downloaded AJS station 1x50s from the DLS and it showed faults as I listed in above thread. It shows red in the object menu and will not load into a route.

I conclude that only AJS Station 1x110s is available for use in TS12 at present.

I hope Andi06 will be able to update these sometime as they are excellent assets for operating stations realistically

Thanks

Graham

Graham, open the 1x110s and 1x50s stations for edit in explorer. Copy the red texture from the 1x110s into 1x50 s. Commit the change (cntrl-m) in the 1x50s station and revert (cntrl r) the 1x110s station. This worked for me in TS12.
Steve

Thanks Steve, that worked a treat! And I didn't mess up the 1x110s because of the 'revert' step!

Thanks to all who have contributed

Graham
