AI Signal Boxing

Hey Im building a route inspired by the Great Western mainline running from london to bristol and im finding that my trains are all slowing down to change junctions. Im pretty sure theres a way to set up efectivly an AI singal box so junctions can change automaticly before a train gets to the junction, how do I do it?

You need to have all your junctions set in Surveyor to suit the route the trains are most likely to take. If the AI is required to throw levers it will slow down at least and more'n likely stop. The problem can be minimised with the 'correct' use of signals, but to absolutely remove any slowdown through complex trackwork on anything other than the 'default' route is a bit of a challenge....

If the main route is set correctly using priority markers the AI will run through at an even speed this assumes you have correct signals, track markers etc, if however you have diverging routes and both are " main " this is where you can run into trouble.

First try different signal patterns , ie visible/invisible and none, if this does not work the only sure way is to act as Signalman/Dispatcher and manualy change the point direction before the train arrives it will then go through the complex at the required speed. I find most places have a main route so this second option is not often needed but works well when implemented.

Give it a try it might just be what you need.

Cheers

There are a few different rules (mini programs) for setting paths using AI. Generally speaking you have to set up a list of you paths (do in in smallish sections) and then add commands in the drivers schedule(s) to trigger the path setting.

Search for "path" on the DLS.
