AI Session-Loco Going To Wrong car?

I have two engine-less consists. The engine is on track with the wrong concist. It "should" backup to the switch and then couple to the target consist on the adjacent track. Instead, it proceeds to the wrong consist ahead of it and stops a few feet from it - does not move. Solution preposition the engine on track with target consist. Changed to different type engine same result. Game restart same.

A lot depends on how much space the loco has. The AI has always had problems moving, switching and coupling when there are short sections of track between the switch and the consist - a bit like the automatic parking feature in many cars, it errs on he side of caution.

My theory (and experience) anyway.
