AI problem in saved session

hi all

i am having problems with the saved game now in tc 1+2

blue midland pullman set running at 14 - 16 k
really annoying that is

it ran fine for the first third of the route from the saved game
now is acts up

anybody know what may cause this strange behaviour?

running in AI it slows.
when i drive it with dcc it goes at the speed i want it to.

it had been saved in cooroy station or one of the next to maryborough
i stopped it in between and saved it as well.
no difference.
only when it pulled into maryborough station to load did it speed up
weird eh?

the lines are already done into block signals
they all worked perfectly before i married all the sections into 1 big route
i tried placing some signals on single track all to no avail

it does it anywhere after cooroy after saving.
new session from cooroy works fine

i made up a qr consist with the same results.
before save good
after save same limited speed

put post up in TC forum and as usual no answer from anybody

thanks
ron

Hello Ron,

First, I'm using TRS2006 so maybe TC is different, but AI trains running at half the set speed can be caused by the distance you've placed your signals on the route. A good explanation can be found here, but in short, all signals default to 'red' until a train comes within a certain distance and the AI starts figuring out if the next part of the route is clear. The AI driver however just looks at the next sign and if it's 'red' starts slowing down to half the speed. Solution is to place signals along your route at closer intervals.

Hope this helps.

Greetings from sunny Amsterdam,

Jan

hi jan

thanks for the tips.
i have downloaded them

the thing is this used to work fine before i had the hiccup.

i cant see any reason why it should alter now.

i have set it into block sections so that no train can enter the next section, especially a single one, without the block being free.

one of my beta tester suggested changing the signals

if i have to do this i will but hen it will take me a long time to do.

i guess i am just trying to avoid spending all that time doing this.
there are a lot of signals on that route

thanks from stormy and wet ipswich
cheers

Hi Ron
Have tried a version of your route in 2006 and NZ sigs work OK, in TC3 AI seems to read them only at a short distance. Have just this afternoon managed to install and run your route in TC1/2 and haven't had a good look yet. Testing in TC3 wasn't telling me much about the slow running problem, just that the sigs work a lot differently. Once I get a couple of AI sessions set up and running should be able to find out summat.
Cheers Will
