Surprised there isn't one of these already!
I suspect this will be a very popular thread when RSA Trainz releases it's content...

Some from my South Africa-based 1 board module. It will be released to the DLS when I do the thumbnails!

So you start a thread called 'Africa Shots', then say you knew all along you are using Australian content? That's just too weird.....

Well, I'm going to buck the trend here and make nice comments instead of rivet-counting brickbats for once. It's a really nice route Nathan that's coming along good, even despite the Aussie-stand in rolling stock (and incidentally, despite what was said, the Aussie 'SAR' stands for 'South Australian RailWAYS, not 'Railroad' - railroad is an Americanism that only started gaining Australian use recently after the government systems were privatised and purchased mostly by American companies. And now I'm being a rivet-counter. :p).

Seriously though, as far as South African prototype is concerned, I think Paulztrainz (I think that was the name of the site) has some SAR~SAS content available in 3'6" gauge, plus Trainzone (http://www.trainzone.co.nz/index.htm) has some South African 2' gauge for free download as well (the NGG16 Garratt and some open wagons from what I remember). But if you're happy running South Australian stock on your route, go ahead - it's your route so run what you want, and don't let anyone stop you. ;)

Cool ! and nice to see that little shunter running now !
I thought about starting a thread but I have no SA routes going yet . In the beginning when I started with trains I got mixed up with South Aus RR and South African Railroad assets but I don't mind mixing routes and assets at all , it's all fun to me - serious stuff for serious moods and vice versa I guess -
I know RSA Trainz are busy with SA routes too like the Sishen-Saldhana and others like possibly the coal line to RBCoal Terminal in Richards Bay, which is going to be cool with all those heavy loads and 200 truck trains with Electric units hauling and diesels banking at times. Stacks of hard work though, there are 'up' lines for the empties to return to the coalfields and 'down' lines for the loadeds to be tipped by the tipplers down by the coast. The Blue Train that Euphod mentions runs on a beautifull scenic route , which I think they are tackling as well.
I will be asking someone to make the 'umfaans' running next to the train and bumming food and money from the passengers, for sure :) Can't wait for these new goodies to start appearing in the black or white or any color pages...and I think there are hundreds of other trainzers who will be happy too.

Thanks for the compliments jjanmarine. I have uploaded the route, should be available soon.
Here's a closer shot of that shunter:

Although I tried, I couldn't find a colour picture of one of these, so it has a generic SAR (South African Railways, not Australian!) livery .
