Adorable little Hungarian High-Nose Diesels.

First off, I ENVY THOSE KIDS!!!!! I WISH I COULD DO THAT!!!!

Okay, now that I've got that out of me, I feel that that would be a neat route to have in Trainz. I don't have the skills to build such a route, but there are several reasons why I'd like to see it in Trainz:
1. It hauls passengers, and I prefer driving passenger trains over freight trains.
2. It's narrow gauge, which results in slower speeds. Then again, a standard gauge one could also be done with the same speeds. The slow speeds give it a 'relaxed' atmosphere to the railroad.
3. It's a scenic route. No big cities in sight along the trip, just a few small towns. Plus there's no road paralleling it all the time.
4. The only thing I would change is have it powered by steam locomotives (maybe a 0-4-0T or 0-6-0T) instead of diesel.

I don't have the skills to create that route in Trainz, but maybe someone will, or something similar.

When I was a kid I hated diesels. The ones that turned me around were the FM H-12-44 (Thanks again Dave), and the Alco RSD-4/5. Since then I've learned to appreciate the rest. Learning more about how they work helped too.

I like those little Diesels. I cringe at the Trackwork they're running over (Check out just after 5:30 and 6:15, watch that diesel Twerk, geeze), but I like the Diesels. They have character.

In the UK we have smaller ones!

It's actually a low hood, it always runs high hood first for some reason:

Believe it or not this is a fully functional railway and not just a theme park side attraction. The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway is nicknamed "A mainline in miniature" for a reason!

So. Damn. Cool.

Those kids going about their railroading like it's just another day at school. I'd piss myself in excitement if I were in their shoes.

Well they are normal size not scaled down to fit the 15" gauge loco. If they were they would probably just squeak!

For the OP, the diesels are 760mm gauge, built in Romania and have about 450 hp. They got exported to a lot of countries, most significant being Hungary and Poland, where they are designated Lxd2.

Those happy children! So sad that I never got to work on a children's railway as my city's one closed down in 1997 - the very year I was only born...

Thank you, Dave for posting these. I enjoyed them very much.

I love the excitement the kids have when the second train comes into a station while they're stopped there. :D

Nice looking route. Might put it on the bucket list to do some time, albeit more inclined to build as 2ft gauge given the vast amount of motive power and rolling stock resources we have. Lot's of infrastructure items, track etc. for 760mm but never been able to find much in the way of locos or coaches, on the DLS at any rate (cue someone posting a long KUID list... ). Given there's a fair bit of Hungarian buildings etc. built into TS12 not that difficult to find "off track" resources. Quick look at Open Street Map shows quite well delineated, even down to the track layout so...yep, distraction looms again!

I`m SO making this in Trainz!

I'm actually working on something similar, but it's 3 foot gauge and using Trainboi1's Colorado & Southern locomotives and BNSF50's Denver and Rio Grande and Durango and Silverton coaches, which I modified to take the built-in passengers product. It's a Model Trainz route, and I've got the track and stations done, now I'm working on the terrain, then textures, then buildings, then scenery. It's a long way from done, and I don't know if BNSF50 will allow me to release my versions of his coaches, but I'm working on it. Don't expect it to be release anytime soon, if I release it at all.

Already made a start on my version too! We could end up with three versions of the same route here! :)

As regards rolling stock, as noted there's not a heckuva lot of 760mm stuff, leastways not on the DLS. I found a couple of passenger coaches and a US based steamer which will do to run the route if/when finished. Maybe there's more European ng stuff off site...

where you gonna get the locomotives and coaches?
I`ll make the route first. We`ll see about the rolling stock.
