freeware doesn't necessary mean "free from copyright", try and do a search for the author on the DLS and ask their permission. Only treat items marked saying something like "free from copyright", "open source", etc.

wondering where to upload

judging from all of the good comments you want me to upload?
I can't upload to the DLS because there would be missing dependencies.
I downloaded the ngt8 from an external source (trainzdepot)

I'd check that it's OK to upload at TrainzDepot, and upload there. Are there already any re-skins of the tram on that site?

And yes - it's a good skin - who knows, someone might create an Adelaide inspired route...

i PMed the auther, no replies, oh what the heck i'll upload it on trsberlin, it has content on the london subway too.

I was suggesting TrainzDepot as it is where the original is available. I assume you've aliased the re-skin, and so downloaders will need the original. Keeping it all on one site will make it easier to find. In addition, the original creator may have had specific reasons for choosing to use TrainzDepot.

I would suggest that posting or PMing through TrainzDepot is your best bet for getting an answer. As a rule, you can't assume that you can upload a reskin if you don't have any reply.

some people say that using alias is not recommended. also the person who recoloured the original Ngt8 to blue/green livery was was someone different than mp339. and no, the person did not alias the tram.

If you do that, you may be in breach of copyright. What does the Readme file on it about uploading reskins?

Seems to me the author of the original NGT8 is on TrainzDepot as MauricePaetzold, so he'd be the one to contact. (The one who uploaded it there doesn't seem to be the original author.)

Well in that case, permission would not be granted to upload a reskin of their work.

Someone else can explain what I mean better.
