Addon Question

Hello All, I was wondering if Trainz: Simulator 12 can use the same addons as Railworks 3: Train Simulator 12? Are these 2 games connected in anyway? or they from a different company? I was seeing if I could use Amtrak Acela Express Add-On from Trainz: Simulator 12 or does Trainz: Simulator 12 has is own version of this addon?. Wasn't sure where to post this sorry.

I also just got Trainz: Simulator 12 today through the mail, do I need to install a patch or something? Thanks

Short answer is no, although there is a Trainz Acela set on the DLS.

Thanks RRSignal, I notice the one that comes with the game is plain and boring, do you know if the one on DLS is better quality and better then the one that comes with the game? I'm only asking seeing how I was thinking about buying a 3 month first class subscription, but I need to know if is worth my trouble.

With RW3? Not sure. There was a discussion about it some time ago however here. The model used for RW wasn't made specifically for that sim, but was made by a freelancer and offered for sale on, IIRC, Turbosquid with a royalty-free license. I had considered buying that same model and getting it into Trainz but several people commented that it was really inaccurate. Now, I'm not a rivet counter, but it seems like it was like six of one, half a dozen of the other, though both the Trainz version and the RW model look reasonable to me, so I decided it wasn't worth buying that payware version when I could get just as accurate (or inaccurate) for free in Trainz.

Oh, as far as the FCT, yes, it's definitely worth it. I did the same thing you were planning, buying a 3-month. Now I'm hooked! :)
