Adding buses query

Is there a thread on adding buses? Can I also ask if you need to know a procedure to find out if a paticular one can be added?

To check any bus, car or truck for use on roads, the kuid type must be Track Object, not Vehicle. Also if you right click the asset and select View config file, the config.txt file must have this tag:
trackside 0.01

I take it you mean adding buses to the in-route roads and not as driveable items on the track? To do so, you need a compatible bus (search for TomYoung on the DLS and make sure you select the buses marked traffic). To add them to your route, you need to find the region file in CMP or explorer if you're confident enough, and edit the config file. As I recall, all you need to do is select an existing vehicle and change it to the bus you need. In explorer, delete the asset from the config file and replace it with the details of the bus.

I'm sure someone else will provide a clearer explanation though.

Thanks for for those 2 replies.

The reason I mentioned this is as you know I am still crawling along doing the N. Ireland railways project. Someone has produced 2 buses - a single-decker and a double-decker in the Ulsterbus livery. Was quite pleased at that as Antrim, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine stations have Ulsterbus depots beside them. The only wee negative is they are slightly older ones. Must look further into this one as it would be nice later if I could include the appropriate buses with the right colours to run alongside the Ulster countryside and stations. An area I haven't been too clued up about so far.

If you go to Zatovisualworks' blog you will find a link (the door) to Alberte's tutorial on how to add vehicles in a new region using dummy "pointer" assets. It is for 2010 so I'm not sure if the same problem that created this need is also present in 2009.

Thanks for that although I am at present continuing my NIR build in 2009. It is a corner I have been a bit unsure of dabbling my toes into but will get round to it shortly as a break from rail building.

As far as I can see one would only have to change the Trainzbuild version in the config files. It's worth a try.

I'm going to keep a note of the suggestions here when I have a break from building to see what can be done. The 2 Ulsterbuses available are fine but not quite modern as is now. But as said look into fiddling around to see what happens!
