I have found it useful to stop in at the local police department when filming structures which I do for research on projects and have never had a problem when doing this.
That way when the phone call comes in the cops don't bother coming out.
Some stuck-ups. They blame 9/11 on us! After they found Bin Laden's plan to destroy trains, we practicly can't railfan anywhere within a ten miles radius of a major city, thus we lose great spots on the Harlem and Hudson Line.
Heck, I think our hobby is dying (as is legal issues).
